Musgo Real - Aftershave Balsam

I hestitated trying this product for a very long time. I was very happy with my beloved Harris Milk, and the reports of oily skin with this stuff gave me pause. Well, The original Harris Milk is gone, and its Green Pond replacement has bit the big one also. Being a milky kind of guy I finally broke down and bought a bottle of the Musgo Balsam.

Now I regret waiting. This is a really good product. It has the faint scent of Musgo Real A/S splash, but doesn't linger. It is a bit more moisturizing than the Harris Milk, but I like that. I haven't had problems with greasiness at all, and my face has felt perfectly moisturized.

Now for the best part. This product is the single best killer of razor burn that I have ever come across. I mean it turns it off like a switch. I deliberately scraped away at my face to get killer burn just to see if I was nuts. Nope. It just laughs at irritation and provides your face some wicked moisture.

If I had to gripe at all, it would be that the beeswax in the product dries-down to have a bit of an odd smell. I have encountered this before in some other products that use the wax; it is hard to describe, but it is sort of a stale smell. It is faint, but in the spirit of full disclosure, I'll mention it here.

Notice the "milky" consistency like DR Harris A/S milk?

Firstly - this bottle/packaging does nothing for me.... I very much miss the cork bottle/packaging they used to use - but oh well, cest la vie. Next - the scent.... it is basically a dead wringer for their a/s splash, which I LOVE the scent of, but in the balsam form it is a little watered down, and doesn't have "staying power."

Ok - so now down to business... this stuff is about the same consistency as DR Harris Aftershaving Milk, but it smells/functions a whole lot better in my opinon. Smear about the same amount of A/S milk you would use on your wet mug, and you get a light "balm" that dries into your skin and a VERY light coating of beeswax seals the mm mmm goodness of jojoba and almond oil into your skin. Really feels good to put on razor burned skin, does a great job of acting/being "light" whillst simultaneously providing a very healthy amount of moisture - PERFECT for year round use. At about $25, it isn't "cheap" per se, but a bottle should last you quite some time, and it is in my opinon markedly superior to the more expensive DR Harris... in fact - if I could only choose one aftershave... this one would probably be it. CAR will moisturize a little more (but is too greasy for me in hot weather) and baxter will cool/soothe more (doesn't leave your skin as nice as the musgo, and doesn't moisturize enough for winter) but this musgo has a wonderful balance of the two qualities.

Overall.... truly an exceptional product, and I would highly recommend it!
