Dignity and the Wet shave

I missed any updates about the Verona plant.... What did you hear?
I had heard that they are moving production to the German plant. That may not be a problem, but, with the Lab Blues (as they are today) being in my top 3, I decided to stock up for an indefinite future. Dan @helicopter, do you have any further details on this that might be clarifying/helpful?

When I first bought Personnas... I got the German ones.... I tried two of them... They were horrible... I do mean "Horrible"... I mentioned it here and was told... Oh... those are the wrong ones... The ones people love are the US Personnas... I threw the German ones away and bought 600 of the Comfort Coated Personna USA blades.... What a difference.. at least, for me... I hope they don't transfer their production to Germany... I'm set for Personnas @ 600... but I wonder what will happen to the quality if they move production out of the States...

I've followed the change to AccuTec.. with limited interest. <eg>

The German ones are bad, I had the same experience!!
I'm stocked up on US made ones but might be buying even more now!

I currently have 500. The vendor I spoke of will be taking those thousand damaged ones back and (properly) shipping me fresh ones. Just in case, I have some on order at Amazon, for delivery at month end (which I'll cancel if the replacement order comes back in proper condition).

I just ordered 600 Lab Blues!
That would total me at like 1500 which should last me a few years.
While searching I noticed that a few barber supply companies (that carry them) are located here in Florida.
They've even got one here in the middle of the state but they don't have a store that you can go to.
So I ordered them from one that's located in Tampa since they were offering a 10% off coupon.
$80 bucks shipped which isn't too bad!
Last 600 I ordered was back in October from Barber Salon and they cost me $69 shipped!
They had the hands down best price but no longer carry them!!

Is it swell time?
I see. I just hope none of us shave junkies outlive our @Guido75

And also hope you don’t take proactive steps to make sure we don’t <eg>
Horns might also be a viable option…maybe wings was wishful thinking on my behalf!

Either way, I plan to shave for a mighty long time - and I truly express my hope it will be with all of you lads!

I went with a split shave matching a Tech against a Super Adjustable today. The Tech was clearly the "everyman's razor" of its day. Inexpensive to make, easy to use, hard to nick yourself with, and it shaved close enough. I loaded it with a 7'Oclock Black, which provided a reasonable DFS shave in mine, with not a lot of facial impact. That said, this razor would definitely benefit from a sharper blade.

The Super Adjustable 84 was another story. My process with adjustables is to start with an ATG pass with a neutral or slightly positive exposure. Then I take a second pass going between ATG and XTG at a moderate exposure (to get to a DFS+/BBS- face). Finally, I go after stragglers with an aggressive exposure. I did that here and was rewarded with a BBS shave (settings of "4", "6" and "8"), with not much facial impact. The 7'Oclock Black was an excellent blade for that razor.

Decided to go with some citrusy Polo Red goodness today. Now it's time to print out a return label for those Lab Blues...

Where is @Balin when you need him? This will tickle his itch and not get him into trouble with the GRUYERE inquisitor @Guido75
