Kentucky-made Scuttles

Hey Gents,
We (ShavingEssentials.Net) have worked with a local potter to introduce some quality Kentucky-made scuttles. The potter, Carl Elmer, traditonally makes communion sets and is well respected.

These are the first run of custom-made scuttles and there are nine in the initial selection. These scuttles are offered on a first come, first served basis.

The bowl has a volume of 1-1/4 cup, the internal volume of the scuttle is 1/3 cup. Water completely surrounds exterior of bowl. Scuttle #2 - $45

This is the largest scuttle in this lot. It has a charcoal background with a dark metallic glaze that gives it a worn patina with nice gloss. It is also the only one to have a flat bottom 3-3/8" across (it will hold the typical s/s puck). 3-5/8" tall and 6" diameter across the top. The bowl has a volume of 2 cups, the internal volume of the scuttle is 7/8 cup. Water completely surrounds exterior of bowl. Scuttle #3 - $75

Scuttle #4

This scuttle is a two-tone - brown and mauve. It has a deep bowl. The mauve areas have been wire brushed to give it a very worn appearance. There are also pinholes from bubbles in the mauve color at the bottom of the bowl. 3-1/8" tall and 6" diameter across the top. The bowl has a volume of 2 cups, the internal volume of the scuttle is 1/2 cup. Water completely surrounds exterior of bowl. Scuttle #4 - $65

Scuttle #5

This scuttle has a brownish/olive background with top color of charcoal black and a glossy glaze. It has a marbled slight weathered appeal. 3-1/16" tall and 4-7/8" diameter across the top. The bowl has a volume of 1 cup, the internal volume of the scuttle is 2/3 cup. Water completely surrounds exterior of bowl. Scuttle #5 - $50

Scuttle #6

This is an elegantly simple brown clay scuttle with a gloss glaze. The color is consistant throughout. It does have a crack where the handle separate from the top bowl. The potter assured me that he had corrected the piece and the crack would not worsen or effect its performance in any way. 2-7/8" tall and 4-3/4" diameter across the top. The bowl has a volume of 1 cups, the internal volume of the scuttle is 1/3 cup. Water completely surrounds exterior of bowl. Scuttle #6 - SOLD

Scuttle #7

Water surrounds approximately 4/5 exterior of bowl. Scuttle #7 - $35

Can you provide more information on them? Dimensions etc and I did not see a price listed. Please provide dimensions on the interior bowl. Does water completely surround the lather bowl, both sides and bottom?

I am originally from Ky and wondered where the potter you mentioned is located. THere are some folks doing great work in the great commonwealth.

First those horseless wagons they're making down in Bowling Green, now some great-looking shave scuttles! Makes me proud to have been born in the Bluegrass (and happy to be seeing more and more of us on B&B!).
