5/8 Straight Razor (100MnCrw4 and T40)

A 5/8 (almost)

15,7 cm long closed, 2,5 cm high closed, 1,1 cm thick to the pivot, 24 cm long, 7,9 cm sharp.

100MnCrW4 blade, 5,9mm thick, Full oil hardened , gold flash tempered. 1/3 hollow grind.

Spacer and handle in T40 (grade2), 1,2 mm thick for each scale. Pinned and epoxied spacer

I began that morning to 8h30, it was heat treat at 11h50. I re started at 13h40, finished the razor at 16h40. I completed the sharpening at 18h tonight :D

I have had a good work today :D

That is a color tempering. I don't put the blade in a kitchen oven with controled température. I did the tempering with the propan torch and controled the température of the steel with the steel oxydation color :). The gold is more or less for 180-200°c .

Instead to do a tempering during 1 hour or more in the oven, it took me 1-3 mn to obtain what i want. That is less accurate, but that is also efficient, the blacksmith did as it during century :).
