I decided to let my jake hackertpipe go as i don't use it much and prefer my boswells pipe

That's OK though, you know what you like so focus on that. I've given up some wonderful things in the past that I don't use.
I see it as a question of Collector or User. I don't see a bad decision, I see a personal choice. Boswell's are great pipes.
