I have a very good canvas strop that will really sharpen. im using a green compound that i picked up at harbor freight for $5 for a 1/4 pound tube. im going to purchase some a fine strip of suede for a finishing strop. what would be a good compound (hopefully not to expensive) for that. any feedback would be greatly appreciate. my thanks, torch

Daily stropping is usually done on Unpasted linen/canvas then leather. Pasted fabric, leather, balsa, etc. is for refreshing when the Unpasted strop starts losing effectiveness, then back to the Unpasted strop.
High grit finishing hones are also used for refreshing.
Popular pastes include chromium oxide, diamond spray, Dovo paste (red, black).
When refreshing no longer works. It is time to rehone.
A SR edge may go more than 200 shaves/Unpasted stroppings in skilled hands, or two shaves with inept stropping, before needing refreshing.
