Help identifying my new, old, Pelikan

Hi guys.

I hope there's a Pelikan expert on board that can give me a hint or two about my recent FP purchase.

A few pics

My first thought is that I have a MK10 with a MK30 cap, here's why:

Pen is resin with a plain steel nib, like the MK10.
Cap actually has "30" written on it so I'll assume it's from a MK30
It's a cartridge pen, not a piston filler, but I think that can go both ways as both models came in both versions.

I haven't inked it yet but the nib seems to be in excellent condition so I'm hoping for the best

Did I hit the nail on the head or am I way off?

Thanks!

Looks like a P30 (P for patronen, M for piston)

The nib reads 585 14C does it not?

Congrats. I've never owned one but I'm sure it will serve you well.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Yes, the nib reads 585 14C

Am I wrong in my assumption that this is a steel nib?

It doesn't look like gold so I'm just assuming it is

It's solid gold if it's marked as such, maybe rhodium plated.

14 Carat = 58.5%, standard alloy for 1960's nibs.

Great, then everything seems to be in order

Almost...

I've been soaked and flushed my new pen through so that is should be good to go.

Turns out it'll only write if I use a bit of pressure, a lot actually, and that is not how it's supposed to be.

I've been scouring the web for information about how I could remove the feed and nib but I haven't been able to find anything.

Is there a Pelikan 30 owner here who knows how to disassemble this baby?

Yeah, further Googling does confirm it to be a P30 and not a MK30

It does look like it has a friction fit nib like your link indicates but this thing is tight!

I'm at my wits end.

I want to pull out the nib to clean out the feed but at this point I think brute forcing it might be the only option.

I really don't want to junk my pen before I get a chance to play with it so I'm open to suggestions.

Those prongs are part of the section so there's no pulling on that thing ;-)

Besides, they're flush with the feed so there's a whole lotta friction to overcome

I'll try an overnight soak in soapy water and see it's more yankable in the morning

After soaking for 1½ day...

Nope, it didn't take.

Feed is still stuck

I guess there's nothing left to do then, other than taking it to a FP repair shop :-(
