For straight up dirty hippy you need aged patchouli (think vintage Givenchy Gentlemen), but for clean hippy you'd rather have the freshie (think Smoke and Beads from Wendy). I like both and it really depends on who's playing that night to determine which I prefer:>)
I like patchouli when it is blended seamlessly into the fragrance. The perception is less one of patchouli and more of an olfactory chord.

I just added narsisco Rodriguez to my amazon wish list. I feel like I'm far enough removed from my old hippie concert festival days to wear a patchouli scent again without feeling dirty.
IMHO, nothing beats good quality patch oil. I enjoy it thoroughly when applied with discretion.

What is a good source for quality oils?
Well, Deva is a local brand, that is were I get mine, they don't do shipments.
Good quality patch oil is not difficult to get by, it is not sandalwood. So maybe here in BB can suggest you a reliable seller shipping to where you are.

I find that patchouli oil smells similar to whiskey, almost uncannily so.
