Why is this pen worth 15,000?

This pen does look nice and have a Star Trek theme, but 15's ?

Well, it is numbered after all.

Honestly, it's not worth near that! Unless you are an over the top fan. Then all reason is out the window.

Fishing ... buy it now price does not equate to worth.

I was going to buy it, but then I noticed it was used.

New it's obviously worth at least $15,000. That seems a bit too high for a used pen.

The price of anything works the same way.... if someone is willing to pay that amount, then its worth that amount, my guess is this auction will end proving it is not worth that amount

If some one gave me that pen I would sell it to. Its not my taste. There are so many nice looking fountain pens out there.
I like star trek, but that has its limits.

That is a Transporter pen.

He seems like he would be a great guy to go out to dinner with.

The pen has probably has a value of less than $100. Maybe it is a typo.

Or maybe it was Picard's pen! And it's come back to the past!!

If that pen comes with its own transporter, then it may indeed be worth $15,000. The ability to walk into a bar and say, "Beam me up, Scotty!" and watch the look on the bartender's face as they realize that you aren't ordering a drink would be priceless.

I have herd him speak a number of times, and find him to be a interesting person, I would enjoy his company even if he had not been on star trek or a well known actor.

certainly better than Springs1 who I seem to be stuck with.

I agree. His story is compelling. He and his family were held in an internment camp during WWII, just because they were Japanese.
