It wasn't tinned but I went to a Pickled Herring bar in Krakow Poland where my wife and I had 3 flavors of pickled herring with fresh bread and vodka for dinner. We talk of it often. So I could see good Portuguese tinned sardines and wine working as a concept.

Today I found some stuff from Morocco 
The Hot Safi Sardines were hot indeed. 3 big ones filled the tin + 1 potent Birds Eye Chili
Now there's tinned fish I can dig into.

Cans and bottles. A complete party on that table!
Bottles and cans. Imagine leaving all that as a Christmas present for the recyclable collections driver. He’d drop over dead from the excitement.
Not much interaction with those guys but I guess they would pick the wines over the tins.
