I had the previous steel bowl, and it was heavy and solid as mentioned but it rusted. A lot! Thats why they changed it. And for cost issues too.

There's nothing "flimsy" about the new bowl; it's a perfectly adequate piece of aluminum which suits its function to a tee. Of course it's lighter than a steel bowl of similar size - so what?
