So its basically the Barbsols foreign county twin? The same design was also made in the U.K. by PAL.

Yes it is. It is much more rare in the U.S. than the Barbasol.
I also have a Barbasol, but so many good pictures were put up so I thought I would bring the PAL to the thread.
regular blades, not special bladesThis has been a great thread. I know nothing about Barbasol razors....didn't even know there are Barbasol razors. Do they take the common Gillette type blades or do they take a dedicated blade?
Here's a photo of the razor. I bid on it because the base plate looked like a Barbasol -

But check out the detail on the baseplate (next post)
Very good wiork, It may be a Royal Crown, from 1925 to 53. They were made by Otto Roth (Gillette)Looks a bit like a Royal Crown: A bit rare, cheaper razor made of coated steel and made (I think) 1938-1945. I own one, they shave very well. Not sure what the problem with yours might be...All my handles fit this razor.

Looks nicer than before? Well guess whos curious now .....View attachment 265265That's the same razor alright. The threading matches my Old Type, but won't reach due to the extra thickness of the base-plate. The Fatip threading doesn't seem to match.
Mine is diecast metal, not steel. I went to town on it with jeweler's files and sandpaper to clean up the casting imperfections, way to soft (and dull) for steel. It now looks much nicer than it did in the photos I posted earlier.

I'm pretty sure this is a Barbasol.
The ones with open combs and tapered handles are rare. They have a slot on the bottom end of the handle. I never got my hands on one, and I'm curious why they were built like that.
I have a Barbasol that takes Sensor cartridges. It has a brass handle similar to the open comb DE Barbasol razors.
Yes, they are very aggressive, but not too irritating like some other aggressive type razors.Yep...I have one exactly like the eBay razor - it's an older "non-floating" head design - at least from comparing mine with every picture I've seen posted in this, and various other threads. The shave is good - not as aggressive as my Mariner - it's certainly more aggressive than my Weber DLC and a bit more aggressive than the Parker 98R. I assume the actual floating head design will shave even closer than these "older" types.

I think that's a Clix razor. One of the companies that made Barbasol knockoffs.
I have to post some photos to this thread, I'd wanted a Barbasol for quite awhile and had an interesting couple of days.
