Parker 98R - Fits Piccolo

100mm long & 90 grams in weight
How unfortunate, at least you now know that it was not a proper razor. Hope you get the correct one soon.I spent some time last night comparing my Chrome Fatip Grande with my neighbor's, he got the same model razor. It does appear that someone at Fatip or the retailer packaged this razor with the incorrect head top. The lug on my Chrome does have a narrower lug than my neighbor's. Perhaps this is a Polished Nickel head on a Chrome model base, as it appears Fatip's Polished Nickel razor takes a different handle size than the Chrome--ugh! It may have been that someone simply made a mistake during final assembly. So it goes. My neighbor called me this morning and raved about his first Fatip shave. I gave him a couple packs of Astra SPP blades to try and he feels that the Astras are sufficiently sharp for him. Here's an aside for you, I thought this was funny, he put a note near the razor addressed to his wife, "Don't even think about it!" I'll give my Fatip update when I get my new one next week.
Thanks for the update, and try to restrain yourself from shaving with a improper threaded Fatip.Parker 91R handle
Just took receipt of a Parker 91R and tried the handle on my Fatip, Gillette Tech, and DE89. The handle fit all three razors.
Improper fit on my Fatip
However, even though the handle locked up on my Fatip, it had a lot of play in the threads on the way to locking up and when tightened against the head, it had a less than firm feel as it locked up--it actually lacked that firm thread-to-barrel feel. I'm sure the handle will fit a proper Chrome Fatip Grande, as others have found, but on my *** Fatip, lock-up was not true--the lock-up felt mismatched. I'll wait for the other Chrome Fatip Grande I've order to come and try the Parker 91R barrel on it. There's no reason to post photos since Win and Tony have posted exceptional images of their Parker handles on their Fatips. May I share their Fatip-Parker joy in the near future. The 91R barrel is decent for about $28 U.S.
Revised for tomorrow's shave
Too excited to wait: I placed two wraps of Teflon tape around the Fatip's lug and threaded the 91R; it fits good and I'll use it tomorrow--I miss shaving with the Fatip that much. The razor weighs 2.8 ounces (80 grams).
A few additions to the Fatip Piccolo:
Weber Classic (original) does fit
Feather AS D1 does fit
Gillette New Fat Handle does fit
Gillette Tech Fat Handle does fit
Special Note: my iKon Bulldog handle DOES fit my Piccolo (I see where someone else's did not)
I don't know if you missed it Alex, but I listed the specs to the BRW BM Deluxe XL here. I just noticed you didn't have any stats listed for it and thought you may have missed the post.
Tried the new Chrome Fatip Grande this a.m.--just didn't feel right. I put it down, may end up 'chucking' this hay rake, and reached for my Tech. I'm done with Fatip, guys. It's an official SK, for you code guys. I should have been keying CQD with this razor. The Gillette Old OC I had tried actually delivered a far smoother shave--the Fatip just didn't feel right.
Thats why I started this thread, they have fit/handle issues.....get a Joris, 10 times better. The first one I bought cuts great and I like the way it shaves, but has a lug issue re fitting handles. The second one I got, Chrome Grande, still had a lug issue, and this one didn't position the blade properly, so I centered it as best I could and the shave just didn't feel comfortable and the razor wasn't cutting uniformly. I'm done buying Fatips but will use the first one I bought with the original handle, I won't, however, be buying any more Fatips or trying to fit them with other handles. It's simply not worth the expense. The first one I bought cuts great and I'll use it--but I cannot alter the handle I use on it without wrapping the lug with Teflon tape to get another handle to fit and I dislike the cheap stock handle. Anyway, I'm done with trying to fit a barrel to a Fatip and with buying Fatips. I still like OC razors, but I will not invest in any way in Fatips.
I have to say as I said on either this or another thread that my neighbor got a Chrome Fatip Grande last week and it fits different barrels and the blade sits properly in the head. I can't figure out Fatip's manufacturing and quality control.
The FaTip is a great razor head, but with a heavier handle. I would never use a FaTip with the original handle. its too crude in balance. You must try a Joris which is what many love once they try it.
