Edwin Jagger badger or Col. Conk badger?

Hi everyone,

I lost my cheap badger brush so I decided to upgrade. I really want to get something decent without breaking the bank. I would like to get a badger with a little bit of chrome on it to match my razor.

Has anyone used Jagger badger brushes or Col. Conk badger brushes? I'm interested in getting one of those two or a Parker. I would definitely appreciate some feedback. I'll be using it for soft soaps like Proraso. Looking for something not too soft and floppy.

Jagger brushes have been discussed to death on here. Do a search. Some of the Conk brushes are re-branded Vulfixes - find out where it's made - if England, it's probably Vulfix. Vulfix makes a good brush but if you are looking for a brush with a ton of backbone, forget it.

If you are looking to spend $40-ish there might be better options...depending on how much backbone you require, it's possible that neither of these fit the bill. For around $20, you get a lot more backbone for your dollars with a boar brush over a badger...so if your budget is limited, you may want to consider a boar brush if you don't already have one.

Another thing: have you used a pure badger before? They're pretty prickly/scratchy, IME. I got brush burn from mine and had to stop using it.
