Thoughts:
Due to moving and stuff I have not had a chance to shave for the past three days so I decided to go with a bit of cooling enjoyment. The QED & Proraso work so very well together and the menthol kick of the Proraso A/S was just what I needed. Three passes for this shave and I am BBS and quite ready to face the day!

Merkur HD w/Feather (day 1)
Tom's of Maine Calendula

The Feather was corked. Now, I'm not a big Feather user, so I have little experience with which to compare this. All I can say is this: It wasn't great. It was OK. It felt like a Derby. – My objection to the corking hype is this: It introduces too many new variables into the already complicated business of shaving: Cork or polystyrene? Crosswise or lengthwise? Bad corking technique or just a dud blade? Based on today's evidence, I can do without this. But of course, if it delivers for you, you're doing something right, and good luck to you. – I just don't think that corking should become a canonised element of the shaving routine. It's a tweak, that's all.

And now for something completely different:

B&B'ers are an amazing lot.... A Faron Young reference from Stoke-on-Trent...
It is a fact the Brits know more about the diversity of American music than most cultures.... Tip of the Derby to Rob....

I have to confess I owe my scant knowledge of Faron Young to the eponymous song by Prefab Sprout, also from the North of England. Clearly something going on there!

Well stated. It's the ol' YMMV routine.

This is the third time I have decided to go with the Merkur 38C / DR Harris Almond Shaving Cream Combo on back to back days. I obviously really like this set-up. I was browsing SMF earlier this morning where a chap wanted a suggestion for a change to his 18 month daily use of Taylors Avocado SC. 18 months is superlative fidelity...makes my 3 seperate two day jags with Harris Almond sound like nothing.....

Merkur 38C
Derby Day 2
Kent BK12
DR Harris Almond SC
Nivea Extra Cooling ASB
Small Splash of Aqua Velva Blue

HD with red personna
C&E BBB
L'Occitane CADE SS
Speick AS
Proraso ASB
SCS Bay rum w/ a twist EdT

Picked up the CADE shaving soap refill (I didn't feel the need for the 15 dollar bowl) and I must say this stuff is terrific! I have read ho-hum reviews of the shaving cream, but the shaving soap is GREAT (as per the reviews of the soap). I think the addition of cold cream is an interesting one...I did feel that my face felt softer than usual (perhaps as soft as a little old lady?). I also like the addition of macadamian nut oil....not sure what it does, but it sure sounds fancy.

I should also add that the speick aftershave is even BETTER than I had hoped it would be. great stuff!

Is the CADE scent supposed to be a sandalwood? Not sure...
