Face Lather Brush - Cream? Soap?

Wondering what differences are needed/desired in a brush for face lathering creams as opposed to soaps. From what I surmise in the reading that I have done, people suggest a higher loft for creams and a shorter loft for soaps. And it seems people like a narrower loft for creams and a wider one for soaps. And a longer handle for creams and a shorter one for soaps. I don't understand why, although I have only used a soap once. I would guess that getting the soap out of the tub has something to do with it, but after that ..?
Thanks, John

I don't think there's such a big difference. I like a short loft for face lathering, whether I'm using creams or soaps.

See the link in my signature for my brushes. I use all of them for face lathering, although the Omega 10049 loft is a bit high and the STR1-22 could use more backbone.

Right, every brush can lather any cream or soap, it all comes down to personal preference. Some people like the feel of bigger knots, some like smaller, and some mix it up.
