Speakeasy Acquisitions - June 2008

"Got Shoes?"
Picked up the litre bottle of Johnnie Gold today. This is a new format for this scotch. They also have released a 1.75L of the Gold as well. Both bottles will be utilized in the Indulgence of the Night post over the next several days. At the request of Brother boboakalfb, he has suggested before and after pics. So, without further delay, here are the "before" pics.

You might be a Johnniegold if...

...your daily imports of Johnnie Walker Gold Label exceed Scotland's exports of said product.

...you like JWG more than I like Seinfeld.

Nice acquisitions, Bob! :a14:

If the volume drops fast we might have to move the post to the "What's the most you have ever had...or Binge drinking" thread. :tongue_sm

Impossible.

You know what Bania said when I bought it?

It's Gold Johnnie, Gold!

More of a gift than an aquisition, but my Aunt from Italy gave me some espresso beans she brought over with her... I don't know where they came from, but they're good.

I don't know why, but I only just found this thread.

Nice, Ray. I just received a 5 stick version of it for shorter trips. :001_smile
I got the five stick one and now I wish I'd gone for the 15 stick version! Still, I hardly paid anything for it, so it was worth it.

Aaaah, one of the best. I think I'll have a glass right now.

I was at Costco picking up a few things...it just called my name. I hadn't replaced this bottle in a long time. The 12 and 18 need some company. :001_smile

Picked up a few seasonal brews this evening. The Honey Moon is excellent(I admit to not being a huge fan of the original Blue Moon), and I have yet to try my new favorite brew company's(Goose Island)summer seasonal. Pretty much drooling as I type this.

I went down to a nearby town to do a little hunting and came back with a lidded Martin No. 8 deep cast iron skillet. I stopped on the way back for some Knob Creek but they were out , so I opted for some A'bunadh instead.

Let me know when you try this how it compares, as I have had the 12, 18, and 25....

Thanks,
Jason

Will do, I think I will pull out the 12 and 18 as well for a tasting. I haven't had the CS in over a year, so I will let you know when I open this bottle. I will say this, if you like their Sherry line you will enjoy this Whisky, it's packed with flavor. Judging from the fact you own a 25, I think it is safe to assume you do.
