Monday's SOTD ::::: July 18, 2016


Prep: Hot shower w/Gillette Fusion ProSeries Sensitive Face Wash
Pre-shave Oil: Maggard Razors Lavender
Soap: Catie's Bubbles Menage a Lavande
Brush: Wolf Whiskers Copper & Cream Becky Shave Revolution Manchurian 24mm
Razor: Gillette Gold Rocket
Blade: Treet Platinum Super Stainless (1)
Post Splash: Thayers Lavender Witch Hazel
Aftershave Balm: PAA Al Fin

This was my first shave with the gold Rocket, the Treet and the Wolf Whiskers. Two out of three ain't bad. The Rocket is a fine little razor but I do believe that it was replated, even though the seller couldn't confirm it. It was a tad slippery but I'll adapt. The Wolf Whiskers is a Wolf Whiskers! The Shave Revolution Manchurian knot is great and it lathers like a wonder. It's got enough backbone to make a face latherer happy. There was a bit of badger funk remaining after its first bath and shampoo but now following the first outing it's a faintly lavender scented brush. But the Treet is a different story. I've shaved with a Treet before, but not this platinum super stainless version. It almost had the most blade feel I've ever experienced (I think any blade in my Futur wins that contest). I ended up with a BBS but the shave started with a nick to the left of my moustache on the first pass and I had three weepers on my neck -- the most I have ever had. Applying the alum bar was no fun. Even though the witch hazel and the magical Al Fin balm soothed my skin it is still a bit tender. I hope the next time I use this Treet I find it is better as a second or third shaver.
