Pinning hammer polishing and use for 0.3μm lapping film

I'm a Carpenter joiner by trade, so I have spent most of my life hitting things with hammers, my hammer of choice for peening razors are both small ball pein hammers about the 4oz mark, I find there is more control to be had when using a hammer with a smaller head.

For nearly a decade I used a square faced tack hammer and always got compliments on my peening. Had the most messed up face you ever saw. Probably what caused the pin to mushroom! Like a miniature meat tenderizer.
From the dollar bin , way back when at the local Ace Hardware store!
Stupid thing works great. I’ve seen smoother rocks. I’ll polish pins and razors, not hammers.

A square-faced tack hammer is used in both of these videos. I always assumed that this choice of hammer had to do with the use of escutcheon pins. Now I am tempted to buy a tack hammer :).
