Newspapeer ink?

I've been using a Pilot Preppy with their ink cartridges to do the puzzles in the paper. The VF nib works fine for the job (as long as I don't spend too much time between answers), but my soul is unsatisfied by the quality of the pen.

I'm going to order a VF nib for an Edison that has been sitting in my pen case - but can I use one of the many Diamine inks already in my possession or do I have to purchase some Noodler's heart of darkness?

Every Diamine color I own has been used to do newspaper crosswords. (Yes, I only do them in ink!)

Newsprint is very cheap, wood pulp paper. Fine points work best. The pen is not the issue. The point is the issue. (the finer the better)
