My Guess... 3017

30 days with Valobra couldn't have went better. It was easy to lather, slick, no irritation and post shave feel was fine. The scent was non-existent in my open dish. I face lathered every one, about 30-35 sec load (guessing) and always have plenty of thick and creamy lather.

I can now see why C&S and AOS Tallow are held in such high regard.

Tomorrow I start another luck of Haslinger, 60g (weighed in at 58g), Sage....I expect to get my regular 28-30 days from it.

I've never had a blue soap before, it's freaking me out.

Haslinger Meeresalgen is blue with shiny silvery streaks running through it. It looks really cool if you cut it up into pieces and press them into a bowl. I'll probably get to it after I finish my two cucumber soaps.

Cool. I have a puck of that one waiting too. I was worried my Sage would turn my precious old Rooney tips blue so pulled out a boar for the Sage today. Lather was white, no hint of blue.

Valobra was excellent, but Haslinger is still a notch above for me and still #1.

It seems easier to lather, creamier on initial load and application to face. I haven't compared ingredients and wouldn't know what I'm looking at, but it works better for me.

I have two punks of Haslinger waiting there turn, but they have a lot to live up to since Bruce has been building them up so much!
For me, it is going to be hard to beat C&S (Valobra), but we shall see :001_smile

So what's the deal with Valobra I'm curious. All this talk makes me want to try it. I see they have hard pucks in a tin, sticks and some other stuff. Are they all the same? Which are you guys talking about? Also they make what other soaps? AOS?

I am using C&S Oxford and Cambridge which is made by Valobra. They also made the old AOS soaps. Under their own name they have a shave stick (which Bruce just used) and punks. They all get great reviews. I have the stick, a back up Oxford & Cambridge, and plan on buying their Fougere with my next order.
I very highly recommend them to anyone who wants a great, easy to lather, protective and slick soap.

I have. It's great. Same base as the tallow AoS and the stick. I like cologne scents and this is a nice, albeit fairly nondescript cologne scent. Same performance as the C&S, AoS and the stick.
Awesome thanks. Just ordered.

Happy Memorial Day gents. Wanted to let you all know that the IanS soap that DrColossus PIF'd me while be traveling on to egh128. Darren, I hope the soap works for you better than it did for me and Jay.

Take care fellow 3017ers :thumbup1:

I finally got back after 7 hours on the road today. Added the TOBS cream in the travel jar back to the main tub. I measure exactly 50g less than when I started on 5/5 which is 20 shaves, averaging 2.5g per shave.

Lathered up Musgo Real Orange Amber shave cream and felt the tingle of doom. It must be something in the perfume that is causing a reaction.

I'm offering it up - about 2/3 of a 100ml tube - if someone wants it.

Justin, Will you elaborate? Sorry if you already explained.

I had an allergic reaction to it. My face got bright red like a sun burn and it itched and burned a bunch. The smell and performance besides the reaction were great. This was the first time I've ever gotten a reaction like this before, so I didn't really know what was happening at first. I thought maybe I had a bad blade or something, but the razor was shaving very well.

Probably cinnamon oil. The 5am has a very small amount of it, but some people are super sensitive to it. I actually had to stop using several soaps because they were high in it myself. Don't ever try my Cinnamon Girl if a puck crosses your path, it's got something like 20-30x the cinn oil in it as the 5am had so if 5am lit you up, cinnamon girl will be a nightmare.

Thanks for the info. I've never used a soap that has any cinnamon oil before, so this would make sense.

Today I thought I saw the bottom peeking through my puck of MWF (the one in the MdC jar--remember Bruce :001_tt2:), but it was a false alarm.

That is all.
