My Guess... 3017

MWF Tallow Batch 8923 is a month+ in now, no issues. Consumptions seems a lot more than Tabac though. That could be product specific or the fact that I am using a Badger Brush instead of Synthetic, which I used almost exclusively with Tabac.

I'm in the Sabbatical and someone posted a Photoshoped SV Brain Bowl, so I got the idea to see if I could make my own Brain Bowl with MWF

I decided to give it a go. 2 pucks added to my existing, so this will be a 3 puck tallow MWF 3017 moving forward. First shave with it tomorrow. Hopefully it doesn't crumble apart.

Pic heavy.

Hide it from the french. It looks like some cheese gourmet ****e.

I’m sleepwalking my way through the Pen’s Sartorial. I’m only getting 4-5 shaves per week, so it’s taking awhile to get through. Not surprising since it’s a bona fide triple milled soap. I’ll just keep at it, but confess to getting a little bored with it. Lathers are fine and scent is there, but I’ve been using it for so long now, I don’t really notice it.

I took my jar of Tabac to visit its country of origin. It spent last week in Germany (I went too... can't let soap travel un-escorted...) :biggrin1: Seems like it worked as well there as it does at home. So far I have have 73 shave on the puck and my average daily usage is slowing increasing and is sitting at 0.29 g/shave up from less than 0.25. I am not sure if my Simpson case travel brush is a lather hog or the little elves that seem to sneak in and add more soap to the puck were unable to follow me while traveling to another continent. :confused1

A few weeks left with my 3 puck tallow MWF Brain Bowl...okay, maybe more than a few weeks.

My best lather yet. I've been using Badgers as I didn't use many last year with Tabac. I had been getting good lathers but today was great!

I don't know if it's the combination of the synthetic hair, soap has some more water in it from use (I don't bloom) or the shape of the soap. The way it is now when I press down on the brush, it contours to the knot and the soap is collected deep in the knot. Who knows.

Either way, the next few shave will be the RR Synthetic to see it continues at this level. It was perfect. On par with Tallow Tabac.

The GFT Limes has not been getting along well with my skin after trying to 3017ing it (and even putting it aside for a week and trying it this morning). I’m putting it aside and may send it on. I pulled out my stash and had a few I didn’t know I had. going to finish off the Cella bio now (except for the MdC rose sample on Monday next.

Last time that I escorted a shaving soap to Germany, the airport security screener noticed something in my luggage that looked suspicious to him. It was a little red plastic tub that he thought might be plastic explosive. Once he dug it out of my luggage and smelled it, he believed me that it was really Cella.... 😀

I love this

Gateway drug for many. In your honest opinion, how does it stack up for performance and scent?
I'm afraid my review won't likely be of much use to anyone. I tend to engage autopilot after more than a month with a soap and stop paying attention. It got the job done, it didn't require any extra effort to generate lather with a variety of brushes, and didn't present any issues.

As for scent, my nose decided to stop registering certain scents long before I was able to truly appreciate the many soaps I purchased based on the profiles reported by others. I would have limited myself to lightly scented soaps had I known that would happen.

At this point, my goal is to just reduce my stockpile to less than a dozen. I hope to finish at least four per year and have several (as in more than ten) years to go.

Scent issues aside (and I have my own sense of smell troubles), that’s about all we ask of a soap. It works and doesn’t require you to stand on your head to do it.
