Yes the Mingoose uses injector blades like a vintage Schick. Not AC blades. Different blade format.

Mingoose is an injector style razor. Mongoose uses Artist Club blades.

If you are looking for a mild AC razor the Mongoose may not be the best suggestion. Modern razors like the Atelier Durdan La Faulx or a Vector Lite may be more suitable. And lighter. Or the ATT X1 if you can find one on the BST. The Colonial General was great but again another unavailable razor for now.

I agree they are expensive razors… but a used Mongoose wouldn’t be cheap either. $8 is certainly not the market price!

Maybe you will get lucky and find them on a BST but you will find it a lot easier to buy direct from Blackland or Atelier Durdan themselves.

The RR Hawk is much more affordable but I haven’t tried it myself.

The RR Hawk V2 I already own, works very well for me.
