Depends how long the hair is. Does it really require being trimmed first?

When it comes to shaving there is no right or wrong only what works for YOU!!
Nice. Those whiskers were simply wiped away.
The longest part of that shave was unclogging the sink.

I have the opposite issue. I can shave my left side easier with my right hand. I may have to teach myself to shave my right side with my left hand.
I'm using a DE though. I think you may be using a straight.

Great vid, I did this myself (took pictures not a video) with a #14 Eugenio Hoppe "Frog King" and a months worth of growth, came off just as nice! I love having shaves like this but only get to do so once a year as it's mandated by the Canadian Forces (military) that we are cleanly shaved 5 days a week.
You should see his video where he shaves with a Japanese meat cleaver.

Remember; it's only "cheating" if you get caught...
the wetshaving experience is all about finding out what works best for YOU. if the trimmer pre-shave gives you the best results then have at it.
