Is ACOG still King?

One thing to keep in mind when using red dot optics like Aimpoint is the dot covers quite a bit of the target at 300 meters. I do use an Aimpoint on my AR, but at distance, the dot does cover a lot on an "E" target.

There are so many ways to go with quality optics. What is your primary intended use for your AR? How far do you anticipate shooting and at what targets. Do you need range estimating abilities or BDC? Since you asked about ACOG I assume your interest is in short to moderate range tactical style shooting. Some three gun or tactical shooters will combine a low powered variable scope with a top mounted or off set red dot for quick close range shots.
