What's new

Got another lens today.

Long story short, I got back a lens I wished I never sold. A Canon 100mm macro. Now for a photo excursion with my wife!!! Just a quick shot to make sure it functions, got it from MPB.com, good price and easy to deal with.

I like my 100 f/2.8L macro lens a lot. Oddly enough, when I'm out and about, the 100-400L v2 works for close-ups on some things because of it's short focusing distance.... but for true macro, the 100 f/2.8L gives better details.

I have the Laowa 25mm 2.5-5x macro. I use it on a manual rail for now. but I really need an automated rail to make best use of it.

Here's a couple of shots with it (all manual focus stacked) at 5x.

Those are nice images. I have their 65mm 2x lens and also the 25mm 2,5-5x

Both lenses are very good but the 2,5-5x really requires some practice to get good results and basically every shot must be stacked. I use it hand held and on a manual rail, which still works fine for me. Automated rails are wonderful for inside use and become really mandatory for +10x magnification.

But it does not always have to be a stack. Whenever possible I try to get it right in just one shot. This one again with the 65mm 2x lens which I use for most of my images. Great image quality, light weight and versatile

By the way, in case you are wondering. All displayed images where shot with a 9 year old Sony a6000.
