FOCS Piccolo/Tiger Stainless blade

For those who have tried it.
How efficient is the Fatip Closed Comb (I believe it's called testina gentile) ? Is it more efficient than a DE89 / 34c / Gillette Tech ?

The gentile is more efficient than the Gillette Tech no idea about the DE89 or 34c. I found the open comb Fatip vs the closed comb gentile shaves just about the same. The lather flow when doing passes is a bit smoother with the open comb version. I`d suggest maybe consider an open comb Fatip razor since I find they shave just about the same.

Here's my zinc Piccolo with the handle from my Yaqi Romulus. It does require a bit of Teflon tape on the threads for the handle to tighten snugly, but I find the size and weight of the handle to be a better match for the head than any of the Fatip handles, and I have tried quite a few of them.

Fatip Friday

Last night’s hoveringer shave
Fatip Grande
Sharp Titanium (1)
Damp facecloth aka “shave binky”
AP ShaveCo Dinosaur G5C 28mm synthetic brush
Pre-shave: warm shower and a drop of hyaluronic acid
Lather: Cella Extra Extra Bio bowl-loaded; face-lathered
Aftershave: Aqua Velva
Post-shave: face wash with shave binky
Post-shave: hyaluronic acid and Equate moisturizer

I don’t know how I managed it, but the razor ran at a neutral angle and barely touched or indented my skin. J-hooks issued freely and frequently to make sure the correct direction was found, and stroke lengths didn’t exceed the length of a short j-hook to reduce chances of muscling through whiskers into waiting stubble. A very gentle, close, and enjoyable foray into Happy Razor Fun Time.

Fatip Friday Saturday:
Chromed Grande + German Wilkinson (1). It would have been a good combo, but I didn't get the blade alignment right, one side was aggressive, the other mild. After the shave it took about 10 minutes of fiddling to get even exposure on both sides, let's see the next shave.

Another shave. The blade settled down for the 2nd shave. After fiddling, there was only a little difference between sides. I am going to test this blade in another razor, I don't remember my Grande being uneven between sides so my guess is that this blade isn't a good match for this razor, it happens.

May 10, 2024 Friday shave

Razor: Fatip Il Piccolo OC
Blade: Astra Superior Platinum (1)
Soap: Razorock The Stallion
Brush: AP Shave Co. G5A
Bowl: Captain's Choice Heavyweight copper
Post shave: Osma alum block, Thayer's Witch Hazel
Aftershave: Pinaud Clubman

In honor of Fatip Friday, I broke out the Piccolo OC today. It hasn't been used in nearly a year. But, as usual, it gave a great shave.
Two tiny red spots, but no irritation. It was a great shave. I would use this razor more, but aligning the blade is a hassle. But the shave was amazingly excellent!

10/10 BBS

Enjoy your day!

Tonight’s nifty shave
Fatip Grande
Sharp Titanium (3)
Damp facecloth aka “shave binky
AP ShaveCo Dinosaur G5C 28mm synthetic brush
Pre-shave: warm shower :001_wub: and a drop of hyaluronic acid
Lather: VDH Luxury Scented; face-lathered
Aftershave: Ulm Nom
Post-shave: face wash with shave binky and a drop of hyaluronic acid
Post-shave: Equate moisturizer

Put the Fatip’s lustrously nickel-plated cap on my neck and put it in gear.. it was like the work week was being erased with every shorn whisker. Barely, if ever, did I feel the edges of the blade on my skin, but I could feel the resistance of each whisker presenting itself for trip down my sink. I was a slow-poke, but it was a rare instance of savoring. It was decadently awesome.
