Didn't have much to go by from the auction pictures, but I took a gamble for 13 bucks plus shipping based on the cool shape and old paddle. Turns out to be a really nice stone, about 5.5 inches at its longest and with plenty of life left in it. I took it out of the paddle and saw that the bbw was actually a nice rouge du salm and perfectly flat. I lapped the coticule and remounted the stone into the paddle using some air-dry clay. Gave it a test run on slurry and it was quite fast. On water it was fairly audible but nice to hone on. It left a very nice edge on a razor that was tugging, and after stropping was certainly good enough for me to use. I want to get to know this stone as I really like how the shape gives some nice visual cues for x-strokes. I might clean up the wood and add some leather to the part of the handle that is slightly cut out, but for now I'll use it in all its rustic glory.
