Chest pains with snus?

So today I bought some General Snus, white portion. I was enjoying it, and I'd used two today. But, upon my third (they were spaced out, mind you), I developed a shortness of breath and dull chest pain that's never affected me with cigarettes. Should I be worried?

I would be more worried taking medical advice from people on the Internet. I would seek a medical professional.

+1 to Isaac. If you are worried, best to seek advice from a medical professional in real life. We can't and shouldn't dispense medical advice on an online forum.

Well, yeah, of course. I kind of doubt it's anything serious. I was moreso just wondering whether or not it was a somewhat common thing to experience.

If snus gave people chest pains and shortness of breath I don't think people would use it much. I would go get a check up friend, just to be sure.

Perhaps its just a way of building intestinal fortitude

Seriously. I'm not sure "chest pains" is a normal reaction to anything--except for being physically struck in the chest, of course. I'm not a doctor, but I'd hold off on the snu snu till I got things checked out.

Indeed!

Chest pains mean stop what ever you are doing and get it checked out- tobacco related or not.

Yes, stopping is a given until I figure this out. Or, indefinitely.

And, just so we're clear, everyone, I was not substituting this forum's advice for the opinion of a medical professional. I've been on the internet long enough to know how ill-advised (to put it mildly) that would be. Rather, getting both, as it's Sunday, and I don't think this is serious enough for an ER visit. I have asthma, and chest pain/lightness of breath isn't an uncommon thing, especially this time of year. I still haven't ruled out that it could just be coincidental. I just thought it was strange coming at the onset of my trying General. Thanks for your input, all, nonetheless.

I know one guy that swallows the juice from normal dip, so maybe you are right.

I met a guy that did that. Started out as a kid operating a tractor. So he says he learned to swallow the juice because he couldn't spit it out. I can only imagine what came out the backside.

Good to hear- better safe than sorry.

It's just CYA. Nothing against you or your question, I assure you.

An ill feeling isn't uncommon when first trying snus if you aren't used to the nicotine (it can hit hard if you're not used to it, even for a smoker), but I've never experienced chest pain or shortness of breath. Sounds like you're thinking along the right lines in terms of getting it checked out. The fact that it didn't happen until you're third portion makes it sound like it's unrelated. All the more reason to seek a professional opinion. Best of luck to you, hope it doesn't happen again!

I'm not a medical professional but would disagree with the assessment that this is not serious enough for an ER visit. The chest pain could have been anything but it could also have been a mild heart attack. An EKG at the time of the chest pain would have been beneficial as well as looking for the chemical markers of a heart attack. Recent studies have shown that folks who had major cardiac events had symptoms up to a month in advance but ignored it.

Also, once the heart is seriously damaged, it can be difficult to recover from. I would ask you to reconsider and get checked out as soon as possible.

Don't screw around and get it checked ASAP. I had an episode a few years back. I had what was called an anxiety attack. It came on after a full day of skiing at a restaurant. Very strange, I felt heavy in the chest and and like I was going to pass out. I'm in pretty good shape, actually scared the hell out of me. I went to the ER and I had all kinds of tests done. Found that my heart is healthy but something triggered an anxiety attack. Never had one before, and not since. It could've been the double diamonds I skied that day. No one should ever hesitate to see a doc it something doesn't seem quite right. I'm an undertaker and you certainly don't want an appointment with me!

Skiing all day at a restaurant had to be nerve wracking, no wonder you had a spell.

man he has some very tolerant restaurants where he is. Im fairly certain the second I climbed on anything and tried to put my skies on I would be escorted out before I even got my first decent in. Think I would find it very nerve-wracking to though
