Barbicide vs. Mar-v-cide

I like marvy, and here's why. Both cost roughly the same, about $5.50 a pint at the local supply. Both use the same germicide , dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride. But the marvy formula is 10% strength, barbicide is 5%,that means you get twice as much after dilution ! And that translates to "50% cheaper than barbicide".The marvy clearly states on it's label "safe for brushes"...barbicide does not.Mar-v-cide is a best buy in my budget book...

As far as the disinfecting efficacy of either product, they are the same (they have to be, state barber laws require the use of hospital grade germicides... otherwise we would just be spraying some lysol and going with that... not the best idea, mind you). Cost per ounce, then of course marvy wins that one. Barbicide is safe for brushes, even though it doesn't specifically mention such, but their bristles should be of nylon or plastic. It is time consuming to sterilize a natural bristle brush (use of autoclave, etc...), but believe they can be disinfected in barbicide if done correctly. It mentions the disinfection of non-porous surfaces only, and natural hair has a porous surface.

Either will work great to disinfect DE razors, Straights, Synthetic bristle shave brushes, etc...
