My Guess... 3017

Today was the final shave (20 total shaves) on the little tub of Dirty shaving cream from Lush. This is an excellent brushless shaving cream. I used it with all types of razors, and it is protective, slick, and great smelling. One benefit is that it is available on the shelf at the local mall. Made in Canada. Next up, a partially depleted tub of Proraso green soap.

I finally finished my Floris Elite, it lasted from 7-7-13 to 8-15-14. It was a super hard soap, though I don't shave daily and at first I wasn't using enough product. I have moved onto my L'Occitane Cade and am going to try to finish that a little faster.

Of course, to help me in this endeavor I think I am going to get a Duke 3.
That is astonishing determination if I've ever seen it. Good form, sir!

As you can see from my prior post, the Tiki is no more. Performance of this soap for shaving was simply outstanding from the first lather to the last. Scent was almost non-existent by the end, and was its only shortcoming.

I think the life was cut a little short by my using an old TOBS St. James cream tub to hold the soap (a Tiki puck is a perfect fit, by the way, if you're inclined to give it a try) and replacing the top every morning after shaving. The airtight seal definitely made the soap super easy to lather up the next morning...maybe a little too easy!

Next up, sticking with the artisan/big name alternation, is a brand new puck of Ralph Lauren Safari (it's in an empty Eton College tub, so it'll be easier to see the breakthrough when it happens).

Now half as wise
51 shaves with the PdP (time out for travel with a Palmolive stick) and I have just barely dented the puck. Still not below the screw threads on the tub! At this rate, I'll be at this a long time, and surely will test my resolve to stay with the 3017 treatment!

Have been trying to use my larger brushes, and even that will take a while. Maybe I should load a new brush for each pass. That ought to put a dent in it!

I finished the RR Don Marco a few minutes ago. The scent was great and didn't seem to die down too much as I got to the bottom. This was my first 3017 and I really enjoy it.

6/30/2014 - 8/18/2014 RR Don Marco (49 total shaves)

Broke through the bottom of LASS Vanilla/Eucalyptus/Peppermint. As is with most soft soap, the consistency is resembling a cream at this point. One or two shaves left, I reckon. I haven't been shaving every day for the past month, which is the reason I haven't finished it off yet.

What to use next? Decisions, decisions....

I finished the tube of TOBS St. James cream today. Great cream with a wonderful scent. It really shined for me when I face lathered and had a slickness that bowl lathering couldn't deliver. On to a travel tube of Coate's Sandalwood cream.

The Arlington still has another 2 weeks or so left on it. When I finished my original 3017 journey in January of 2014, these were the soaps that remained in my collection.

DR Harris Arlington
DR Harris Windsor
AoS Lavender
Martin de Candre (unscented)
Old Spice NOS
Crabtree & Evelyn Almond Oil NOS
Arko Shave stick

After the Arlington is gone, the only soap remaining is the Windsor. All the other soaps are gone. The Arko was PIF'd. So after the Arlington, I will only have 1 soap in my collection. One soap. I 'd never thought I'd see the day when I had just one soap in my shave den. It is a bit unnerving.

I got moves like Jagger
Wow! That's just plain crazy that you have not restocked anything; I hope to do the same, but somehow think I will trip along the way.

That is impressive:thumbup:

And, I agree, a little unnerving....

I'm worried that after you work through the Winsor, you might just feel like running?

Not sure I will ever see just one soap in the shave locker, but if I do, I could do a lot worse than a puck of Safari.

Kicked off a new puck today, and was immediately dialed in with it. It even felt slick while building the lather on my face. Just an absolutely outstanding shaving experience, and the scent is one of my, and, more importantly, SWMBO's favorites.

Happy to report that Mr. Taylor is gone. Onwards to Oak Moss...everything MusGo!

20140727-20140819 - Taylor of Old Bond Street - Mr. Taylor (1/4 a tub)
20140820-XXXXXXXX - Musgo Real - Oak Moss

I feel the same way.

Bob (Johniegold) when and what are you planning on restocking with? I can't imagine a day when I would only have one soap in my den.

I'm thinking a suite of DR Harris Marlborough products for the fall season.

Then...

a Haslinger (since I have never tried one).
Institut Karite (it's been years since I used it and remember enjoying it).
Thinking of a glycerin like Conk Bay Rum
maybe a C&S or a T&H Luxury refill

... And two creams

Old Spice and Speick.

Ask me again tomorrow.
