I'm thinkin' I will get about 12 sets of scales out of the remaing piece of tusk. The Ivory is beautiful, is it big enough to make a fitting set of scales?

Thanks for the suggestion. However, If I cover up the ivory with acrylic, I'd probably just use opaque white acrylic underneath. It would have the same effect, no? That way, I wouldn't be wasting some very expensive ivory. I could also just use some mastadon ivory that has the natural blue color already in it. Part of the joy in having scales in ivory is the "feel" it has, anyway. It just feels good under the fingertips. If it's covered in acrylic, how ya gonna know?I know this is out of my zone, but what about a set of scales using a fine slice of ivory with a blue(ish) acrylic outer shell. Not so dark that you cannot see the ivory. Make the outer scale the acrylic and an inlay of ivory or horn. Buff the ivory/horn to where its got a nice shine to it, then place the acrylic piece over it.
so it looks like a manwich, acrylic/horn; razor; horn/acrylic.
Just an ideer I had.

One more thought; think I should put plastic on a set of razors that just may sneak up on 2 large in price? Depending on how carried away I get with them, of course.
For sharpening these do-dads to be used on my engraving projects.Hey Bill, what's that "Power Hone" machine I see on the bench there?
I'd love a razor in Ivory or Oosik, so there go my votes.
And props for the BL Lime in the workshop
