Your most used DE razor for 2024?

Tatara Masamune is a very boring razor - it gives me a perfect shave without any drama. It's interesting to try all the other, more exciting razors but I keep coming back to the Masamune for a no surprises BBS shave every time!

Runner up is Gillette Slim adjustable on setting 4
do you use a feather blade to compensate for the masamune's mildness?

I do like to use very sharp blades. Feathers are great but also use Russian Gillette Silver Blue, Russian Perma-Sharp, Russian Nacet, BIC CP, USA Personna Comfort Coated, King C. Gillette, Lord/Shark Super Chrome etc.

My whiskers are coarse and crusty (I'm 71) so I need really sharp blades in any razor - with the Masamune it is important to get the angle right so both the cap and the safety bar are touching the skin at the same time - get that angle right and it'll give me as close of a shave as I can get with an aggressive razor.

Valencia. French OC slant. Excellent for my 4-5 day stubble.

How does the Lupo Aluminium compare to the Lupo 58? Geometry is meant to be the same, but does the material change the shave much?
Hi sylbub, they shave a little differently. Sometimes I prefer the Aluminum and other times I prefer the Stainless Steel 58. I find the Aluminum milder and more forgiving. Both are mild but the light weight of the Aluminum (I use heavier handles to increase the weight and for better grip) never leaves my face irritated while the 58 does sometimes depending on the blade. They both are the most nimble under and around the nose razors I’ve experienced. For that I love them both.

Without a doubt, the GC.84-P. ✓

Maybe there was a razor in another format that would have given me a better shave, but while I was enjoying this level of functionality, why would I bother?

Late in the year, I tried the GC1.05-P, and voila, a bit more was even better. Do use a smooth blade with it, though.
