What's new

Which would you recommend ? drugstore classics

Come on really does British Sterling smell like Floris #89?
I just checked and the ingredients are basically the same lavender, amber, woods, citrus, amber and moss. Your talking a big money difference in the two I would expect the Floris better quality but for that much money I'll go buy a bottle of British Sterling, I have the aftershave but not the cologne.

O! Man You are hooked. lol

Remember, that British Sterling didn't start out as a "drugstore classic" that was super cheap.

The classic fragrances over time have come down in price as they are no longer cutting edge. British Sterling at one time was probably respected as a high class gentleman's cologne; it didn't always have the cheap drugstore stigma.

Also, quite a few colognes are similar, just look at all of the clones of Cool Water, or Aqua de Gio. Cool Water itself is said to be a clone of Green Irish Tweed.

Michiganlover this is some very helpful information Thanks man it shines a new light on some of the drug store goodies I walk right by. Thank I'm going to do a little testing and grab some bottles of the new stuff and have fun comparing. I think it would be great if we started a vintage vs new thread for people to put their thoughts about the juices and how they compare just like the Floris 89 very very helpful info.

texasshaver78 great buy enjoy

I agree completely with Michiganlover. If you really want a window into the first formulations of scent classifications, go to the drugstore brands. Some are more original than others however (due to various "improvements" over the years). If you find one that has not been changed much you really get a good idea of the history of cologne.
