What's new

What is your "Travel Razor"

I also use the Merkur travel razor. When its broken down it fits into its own very small leather case, and you can even put a few extra blades into it. I have both that I keep in my dopp kit, the safety bar and the OC, that way I have my choice when I travel.

Last time I was away from home I took my 1940s bakelite 7 O'Clock set- obviously it's light and has a really dinky bakelite travelling case with a blade storage compartment.
Also Body Shop synthetic brush which dries super quick for packing away the next morning.

I use a banged up Gillette NEW with a bar handle when I travel.

I have a few of them that I bought for just a couple bucks each. They are great shavers and I wont be terribly upset if the razor is damaged or lost.

My Merkurs 37c. It is a great smooth, easy and safe shaver. A lot less aggressive than my R41 2011 head. When traveling I need to shave swiftly with no weepers and the 37c does that in my sleep. It is small too and strong wearing. Travel companion is the Dreadnought Synthetic and a travel tube of Bigelows. Astra SP or German Walmart Wilkinson. I really like that setup.

This is my travel shaving kit.

The whole kit is carried in a small tool bag I purchased at Home Depot.

The Soap in the photo is a container of Cella.

The small white bottle contains my home-brew aftershave (Witch Hazel, Glycerine, Tea Tree Oil and Orange Blossom Water)

The Penguin tin contains blades in my father's old Gillette travel blade container.

The razor is a Muhle D89.

The brush is a Rooney 1-1, but it has since been replaced by a Simpson Wee Scott in a smaller prescription container.

Nice looking pictures! I like the idea of using a converted mint tin for a DE razor travel case!

I do not fly these days so I take my AS-D1 and Feathers. Someone sent me a small "tupperware" type container just big enough for this. Not fancy by any stretch but very functional.

When flying:

Cartridge: Gillette Sensor (two blade)

or one of the disposables that work for me:

Gillette Sensor 3, Schick Xtreme 3, Wilk Tech 3, Bic Metal or Schick ST2

Car travel:
Gillette Slim Adjustable

At home, I'm stuck on Ikons.

I like the old 3 piece American Techs for travel. They provide a smooth shave, dis-assemble easily and can be wrapped in a folded paper into a very small space.

What's the big deal with losing it? I mean how do you lose an DE/SE when you travel? It's the first thing I check when checking out or loading my luggage up. I really hate to settle, So I Take along My Titan H-1 , Ej 89 With Weber Bulldog handle, and sometimes a 1914 SE. I really don't worry losing my razors unless I loose my carry on, and I doubt that would ever happen :eek:/

I mail my se blades ahead, or buy at a near by Tabacco shop or I can just check in Luggage and make a little. Carry on of the most important belongings, Like my razors, jewelry, and one set if extra clothes. There are options, so I have to make the best of it.
