July 6, 2024 Saturday shave

Razor: Karve Overlander, brass
Blade: Personna Lab Blue (2)
Soap: Proraso green
Brush: Yaqi 24mm silvertip badger
Bowl: Maggard plastic
Post shave: Omega alum block, Thayer's Witch Hazel
Aftershave: Captain's Choice Nor'easter

It was back to the Overlander today after 7 shaves with other razors. My enthusiasm for the Overlander has been reinvigorated by its superlative performance and visual appeal. Great shave, no drama, no irritation.
Since it has become outrageously hot here (highs around 110F) I decided the prudent thing to do was use some menthol soap and aftershave. It seems to help with the heat sensation. Summer has definitely hit my part of the PNW!

Enjoy your day!

Thank you @cf1 for the great deal on BST.
Trying out the Aylsworth Apex and Omega Brush as well as the PAA Good Vibrations.

Razor: Blackland Blackbird Ti
Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium, 2nd use
Brush: Sawdust Studios FS G7
Bowl: Cayuen Dark Nebula Bowl
Preshave: Hot Shower & L’Occitane Verbena Shower Gel Soap
Soap: Stirling Sharp Dressed Man Puck
Aftershave: Stirling Sharp Dressed Man Aftershave
Balm: Stirling Sharp Dressed Man Balm

Well, so far nothing in my collection matches the TiBird for efficiency. Even with a Wizamet it delivered a perfect shave. So gratifying. I also find the more I use it, the less irritation I experience post shave. My technique must be improving. BBS+

Wishing you a peaceful day.

LAMBDA AND ETHOS- JUST PERFECT!

Today's shave was just a wonderful start to the weekend. I paired the Lambda Ares and the Ethos Tonka Bean with a PermaSharp blade and the results were fantastic. You all know that I am a Lambda Fan, so there needs nothing more to be said other than THE BEST. But the Ethos Tonka Bean is truly a fantastic soap. The base is protective and slick and helps glide the razor and blade over the face with no issues. The after shave has great skin ingredients and post shave feel. But better than that, the scent is fantastic.
Just a wonderful shave.

PRE: ETHOS PRESHAVE (this really works well. It does add additional slickness, protection and helps build the lather even more)
BOWL: HC&C STAINLESS
BRUSH: SEMOGUE MISTURA
BLADE: PERMA SHARP (1)
RAZOR: LAMBDA ARES V2
SOAP: ETHOS TONKA BEAN
POST: WARM RINSE, WARM FACE WASH WITH ETHOS, COLD RINSE, ALUM, WITCH HAZEL, THAYERS MILKY MOISTURIZER
A/S: ETHOS A/S

SCORE: 11/10. BBS+

Six days of stubble
Preshave: Face wash with Yardley English Lavender in the shower, Proraso Green and Flairisol mist of water liberally used
Brush: Shavemac 24 mm / 54 mm two band silvertip DO1 in Copper Canyon
Bowl: Captains Choice Copper bowl plus face lathering hybrid
Cream: Proraso Green with use of Flairisol mister each pass
Razor: Wolfman WR2 1.25 SB / @Rosseforp GTB 19.2 Gram handle
Blade: Gillette Super Stainless The Spoiler F4 Unsure of the date 1985 maybe made in the USA (10)
Post: PAA Alum, Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel Toner
Splash: Proraso Green with a ton of menthol crystals added to freeze my face

9.8/10 DFS+ Great shave except for trouble spots on either side of my mouth and neck swirls of doom.

I saw a spot of red after my XTG pass that didn't bleed any and didn't show up by the end of the shave. Three passes. N-S every which way XTG, ATG. This was a great shave and the WR2 1.25 SB with the GTB handle just rocked. This should be my last shave at home till the fourteenth. First use of the Yardley English Lavender soap. A hit and a miss. I have to get through two bars of this stuff. Luckily they don't seem to be triple milled. It seems like good soap just not my favorite scent. I moved the St Johns Vetiver to the sink with the Barrister & Mann Oh Scrap! Fern. It is getting used up. It is still in one piece, but, not for long. I used even less Proraso cream this shave. It was plenty hydrated, but, just a bit thin. I will use a tiny dab more next time. Alum was nil feedback. Splash didn't sting either. All is well. Spoiler on shave ten is still sharp and smooth.

Had a great shave today. And this might be my best combo for comfort.

Razer: RR GameChanger .68 with the Barber Pole handle - this is my favorite combo
Blade: Gillette Nacet
Brush: RR beehive XL. This brush is also my fav, very soft , easy to break its back for foaming, good size and comfortable handle.
Soap: Mudder Focker
Aftershave: Mudder Focker + Nivea sensitive

No Alum at all with this combo, just amazing 1 pass + touch up.

10/10 for me, its my best combo for comfort

Razor: RazoRock SLOC
Blade: Shark Super Chrome🦈
Brush: Simpson Duke 3 LE Sovereign
Soap: RazoRock Caribbean Holiday⛵🌴

Pre shave: Kyle's Routine, Proraso Green
Aftershave: RazoRock Caribbean Holiday⛵🌴 with Proraso green balm added
---

Today was an experimental shave, by chance.
I used Proraso green for my pre shave and it lathered, felt and smelled so good that I went ahead and had my first pass with it and then continued on with the Caribbean Holiday.
Both lathers were outstanding and the green menthol seemed to fit the day and the shave couldn't have been nicer.

After shave I added a smidge of Proraso green balm in my hand to mix with the Caribbean Holiday splash. I know this sounds weird but turned out delightful.

2.5 pass shave, WTG, XTG, ATG on neck

SV Saturday
Semogue Saturdays!
Rex Any Day (RAD)

Hello friends

Saturday a little cloudy here. Perfect for SV Desert Vetiver that I combined with Malizia Uomo AS and Tom Ford Grey Vetiver with its clean, almost barbershop vetiver scent.

I took the opportunity to debut the Rex Ambassador (@3.5) which arrived yesterday. I loved it. It provided a deep yet comfortable shave, without any cuts or irritation. Good weight, perfect balance, magnificent grip and combining perfectly with a brand new Perma-Sharp.

Semogue Pegasus Mistura better and better, shows everything I expect from a good brush.

With us at this magical moment, Julie London on her first and classic album from 1955.

Rating: 10

Have a nice weekend and great shaves!

Pre: Noxzema Classic Shave & Stirling Unscented Shave Bar
Razor: Blackland SS Vector w/Timeless Ti Crown Handle
Blade: Kai Captain Titan Protouch MG (1)
Soap: Noble Otter Barrbarr
Brush: AP Shave Golden Butterscotch G5C 24mm
Bowl: Timeless
Post-Shave: Noble Otter Barrbarr Splash

Excellent shave, 9.8/10. First time using the Kai guarded blade. I like it, but might prefer the mild pink, which gives a closer shave I think. I also swapped out the Vector handle for my Timeless Crown and love this combo!

Today's shave: (Actually Yesterday's)
Razor: Razorock Adjust Razor (Rebranded Baili)
Blade: Dorco ST300 (shave #8)
Brush: Razorock Big Bruce 26mm plissoft
Soap: Razorock Mudder Focker Soft Italian Shaving Soap
Result: Excellent 2+ pass 10/10 BBS shave

This was my first use of the Razorock Mudder Focker shaving soap that I recently purchased. Per the details below this soap actually delivered core shaving performance that was a bit better than my other soft Italian soaps including TFS "Red Bowl", Razorock XXX, P160 and Clasic Italian. As reported before those other soaps, while excellent, all delivered similar core shaving performance with the only differentiator in the area of scent for the XXX. During this shave the Mudder Focker lather was slicker and delivered a smoother feeling post shave feel. It appears that the Fullers Earth, that is the only non-scent ingredient not in the other soaps, may make a difference here. This strong performance is consistent with what many others have reported.

Otherwise this was a typical shave that started with a pre-shave face wash. I then scooped some Mudder Focker into my 4" stainless steel shaving bowl and built lather while repeatedly adding small amounts of water. The Mudder Focker is much softer than my other soft Italian soaps. In fact it was as soft as a couple of my shaving creams. The soap quickly bloomed into plenty of great lather that I further developed with 10-15 seconds of face lathering.

The shave was my normal 2+ passes with a BBS result. The scent of the Mudder Focker is pleasant though milder than the XXX. I give the XXX the edge in scent as it is strong enough to come through the later while the Mudder Focker scent was barely noticable in my lather. Overall I highly recommend this soap.

Being a minimalist, my everyday tools are:

Shaving: King C Gillette with Bic Chrome blades
Buffing: Van der Hagen with Van der Hagen blades
Nothing minimal about your tools. Both are excellent and deliver great shaves. As noted before these are two of my three razors and I've seen not need to go further to realize quality shaves. My other razor is a similarly priced Razorock Adjust (rebranded Baili) and I use a Weishi that is the same as your Van der Hagen.

Don't have a VDH razor. I do like their soaps and they are a great value.

Tonight's shave, in which the Major didn't take enough time.

Warm shower
Phoenix Shaving Accoutrements Prickly Pear Mentholated Preshave Soap used as post-shower face wash + pre-shave
Proraso Green Shaving Cream
Naked Armor Stainless Steel Scuttle
Razorock Bruce synthetic Plisson brush head, Bruce Handle
Gillette Aristocrat (1948-ish)
Dorco Stainless (3rd use)
Captain's Choice Bay Rum

6/10. The Major guesses he didn't take enough time, since he nicked himself 2x.

The Rocnel Elite is the most efficient razor I have, both stainless steel and brass. Posts like yours are what convince me the Blackbird is more efficient than I require. I’m sure I could play around with the Lite base plates to see if they would work for me. I still think about it, but I’m not really looking for anything more efficient than I already have.
Glad to help out a fellow owl!
