Too old for barber school?

When is too old to change careers? That depends on you and what you want to do with your life and when. At the age of almost 50 years I am on my 3rd career now in the Insurance industry. The barber who cuts my hair has a guy cutting hair one day a week who is a successful sound engineer.

Barbers seem to do pretty well and they tend to seem relaxed, IMO. Would I become a barber at 50, sure.

A little late to the discussion, but let me offer this.

I overheard a couple of guys talking in a café or the like once, and one says "yeah, but when I got done training I'd be 35", and the other says "if you don't go, won't you be 35 anyway?"

The Moler Barber College here charges $2400 for the course.....wondering what the fees are in your areas ???
Sounds about right. Don't let this scare you OP, in my barbershop I have hired a few very talented barbers straight out of school, who are pulling in $600-$800 TAKE HOME pay per-week after taxes, not including cash tips. We charge $35 for haircuts and shaves. This is definitely a career for my guys, not just a 'hustle' like many barbers claim the industry is. It can definitely be a lucrative career if you work in the proper environment.
