The Weekender (and Mail) Bag from Satchel & Page

Toothpick

Needs milk and a bidet!
I decided on driver’s license, cc and debit card and I took a picture of my health insurance card and put it in its own folder in my pics. All of my cards are in my virtual wallet as well.

I’m thinking of slipping a double sawbuck in with the cards as well.
Picture is a great idea. But my phone is Face ID/passcode protected, what if I'm unconscious! :letterk1:
Just about everywhere takes some sort of wireless pay now. I can't think of anywhere I shop that doesn't. Too bad you can't put the health insurance and DL in the Wallet app too.

you don't happen to have the money clip do ya? Probably not considering the iPhone case wallet

Another package arrived from Satchel & Page today. 🤪

After renewing my Passport, I thought I would house it in the (what else? 🙄) Satchel & Page “Ex Pat” wallet.

Btw, the cards I used just as examples. If I’m traveling abroad, I ain’t going to Costco.

Mrs Gold: Honey!

Johnniegold: 😳

Mrs. Gold: Did you say Costco?

Johnniegold: No, dear. Why would I say that? You must be hearing things. 😉

Mrs. Gold: Oh… ok. Well, let’s go there tomorrow.

Johnniegold: Sure thing, hon. I mean, I don’t wanna watch football all day. 🤨

She’s still adorable… 😉🙄😎

Anyway… you can see a compartment underneath the cards. I put my expired passport in there just so you can see what it holds.

I’ll probably put my current passport in there and put a Field Notes notebook on the other side. Maybe a Space Pen from Fisher w/o a clip so that the wallet closes a little easier. It will certainly need some breaking in.

Maybe some leather balm will soften it up.

*Just to be clear, I am not affiliated with S&P but I am afflicted with S&P. 🤪

I also picked up this key organizer since a few of my keys kept falling off my key ring (can’t have that happening).

Pretty cool if you’re looking for an overpriced, over-engineered key organizer.

A new arrival from Satchel & Page…

This is their Shave Kit which is styled after the old Gladstone-type bags.

Plenty of open space inside as well as a zippered compartment.

Now back in June of 2024, I had picked up the Shave Kit No. 2 from Col. Littleton.
IMG_2628.jpeg

This kit is in the style of a military roll-up wet pack beautifully-crafted with a thick leather cover and straps with brass hardware with 4 variously-sized, zippered compartments inside.

I enjoy using it and enjoy its stylishly, handsome look, reminiscent of a by-gone era.

But when filled with toiletries and such, it is quite a large accessory to carry. If being stored in a suitcase that is being checked, not a problem. It also requires some aforethought with product placement when packing so that when rolled, it will be the flattest it can be to ensure that luggage space is at a premium.

So I wanted to complement this is roll-up style kit with a more traditional Dopp (slightly smaller) kit wherein I could just quickly throw items into it for a quick 2-3 day getaway. Usually, those trips may not require much shaving gear (if any at all). So just the basic hygiene stuff.

And with a S&P $40 discount and converting some CC points, this was a nice pick-up with no out-of-pocket expense to me.

Both of these shave kits are each stylish in their own right and appear to be well-crafted and made to last.

I look forward to using both of them. :thumbup1:

As I continue down this road with Satchel & Page since obtaining the Weekender Bag, I’ve touched upon 2 of the 3 categories listed on their website.

The first being “Bags”, with the Weekender and the Mail Bag.

The second category being “Small Carry”, with a variety of items like the iPhone case, MagSafe wallet, the Tech Organizer, the Expat wallet and most recently their Shave Kit (which I have yet to use). I also received a complimentary luggage tag. Since I now have so much leather in the house, I also picked up a tin of their leather balm.

Well, with the onset of the dreaded Black Friday sales, I tapped into S&P’s final category, “Jackets”.

While I had been in the market for a leather jacket for a while, I was narrowing down my options/preferences.

I wanted something that was well-made, versatile, stylish and practical. And finally wanted something that wasn’t crazily expensive.

I knew I liked a Bomber-style jacket but not something that was overly big or bulky, like some of the Cockpit USA offerings.

I was steering away from collarless, moto-or cafe racer type jackets, with a lot of zippers or buckles like some of the Schott offerings.

I also like a fur-lined collar and one, preferably, that could easily be removed for added versatility.

Finally, I wanted a well-made jacket that didn’t break the bank and leather jackets certainly fall within the realm of “you get what you pay for” when it comes to leather items.

With all that said, when I was ready to get a leather jacket, I ended up right back at S&P.

Having already experienced a wide range of their leather products, I felt confident that their leather bomber would be well-crafted. It’s described as “fitted”, so although I might have to adhere to their recommendation and size up, the silhouette should be a slimmer look. The fur-lined shearling collar is removable, making this more of a 3-season jacket.

And finally, the price. While not inexpensive, this jacket certainly doesn’t come near the cost of say, a Buzz Rickson or a Billy Reid jacket, amongst many others.

But in a “you get what you pay for” world, the quality of this jacket should be exceptional.

And with a 25% off Black Friday sale, it made pulling the trigger that much easier.

So, when I get it, you’ll see it. 😎👍

The S&P Bomber arrived yesterday and it is a beautiful leather jacket.

I ordered it in a XL and it doesn’t quite fit. Or at least it doesn’t fit my design preference, which is garments that provide more freedom of movement.

The higher arm holes and fitted silhouette make the jacket somewhat uncomfortable for me. Could I get away with wearing it? Absolutely. Would I love wearing it? Absolutely… not.

For me, these days, it’s all about comfort. The days of looking good at the expense of feeling good, are long since gone.

Here’s what would happen. After the initial honeymoon phase ends, that would give way to the overall discomfort I would experience and that would lead to me grabbing other jackets that I love to wear like the Dunstall jacket from Belstaff or the peacoat from Sterlingwear of Boston or the corduroy car coat from Polo.

And this jacket would be relegated to the back of the closet. And that’s just not going to happen.

So back to S&P it goes.

Instead, I’m thinking of getting a Bedale jacket from Barbour. I have a Light Beaufort that I’ve had for some 20+ years so maybe it’s time to add another Barbour jacket.
