@Chan Eil Whiskers tried a lot of gaps with his Sailor... Including the double clock setting, if my memory serves....You'll have to go back a while, but the details are in his journal.. and his journal isn't on the Journals and Diaries section.. so it's easy to miss...Actually, perhaps someone (who has gone 'round the clock with the Sailor) could give me/us some pointers.
In a post in a different thread, I said, ride the cap, ride the gap, or ride the bar, relating how to adjust the exposure and blade contact. I know with the Stirling, anything but cap is getting into wild territory, the bar has no part in the (my) process, and the gap would be brutally dragging.
Much like a shavette, I know riding the cap gives a good range of effect. Is this what others are doing, or am I missing something?
I've learned a lot from Jim over this past couple years... He's a stand up guy and more than willing to assist anyone who asks:

Damn Comfortable Shave
I'm a wet shaver. In other words, I've been shaving with a Gillette Fusion, and real shaving creams, and sometimes brushes for many years (well, decades if I include other iterations of Gillette's "modern" razors with multiple blades). My shaving career began before these razors were invented...
