What's new

The Nib Acquisitions for 2024.

The first of four Parker Sonnets, two FP and two RB have landed. Just ordered some Quink Black Carts for the FP’s.

I'm getting along with it just fine and like it. It seems like people either love them or hate them. I'd say the Medium is my favorite VP nib but I'm glad I got the Stub.
I had the medium of my decimo ground to a left italic come stub and its absolutely superb. In fact its been on deck since 2018 and has never been put away.

A couple of refillable liquid ink roller balls turned up from AliExpress yesterday. Used one and filled with manuscript speia ink, works well . Both for a few quid to my door. Thye look like Lamy roller balls but with screw caps.

Sailor Imperial Black Multi-Pen with black/blue/red ink cartridges and a 0.5mm pencil function. It seems to be a brass pen and is a lot heavier than its Pro Gear sibling. As far as I can tell, the Imperial Black finish is identical on both.

The standard D-1 cartridges that came in it aren't my favorite so I'm going to try to filling it with these Uni Jetstream cartridges and see how they do. I usually like Uni rollers.

I'm liking it. It has the usual rattle any gravity-select multi-pen that uses metal cartridges has, but you have to intentionally shake it to make it a maraca and it doesn't do it while I'm writing with it. I would prefer the lead be 0.7mm but the 0.5mm isn't that big a deal. (Pun unintended).

As far as I'm concerned, worth the $41 I paid for it.

Your pens look the real McCoy but for others who maybe thinking about buying something similar could I send out the warning that the internet is full of fake Parker Sonnets and they are very difficult to tell apart from a real Parker Sonnet, even when they are both in your hand.

If only the fakers would make their own designs and not try to scam people.

I'm not that great at staging/taking pen photos, but since 2024 is winding down here are the last few purchases I made over the past few months that will be my last buys of the year.

-Pelikan M800 Fine. My only other Pelikan was the standard M200 Marbled Green version so this was quite the upgrade! Not suprisingly, it has become my favorite pen and I consider it The Pinnacle Of My Collection.

- Pilot Justus 95. I already had a Justus 95 with a Fine nib in the "Net" texture and wanted one with the lines/ridges so picked this one up in a Medium nib.

-Basic Pilot Custom 74 with a Soft Fine Medium nib, one of my all-time favorite nibs.

-Not a fountain pen, but a Lamy 2000 0.7mm mechanical pencil. Highly recommended!
