The Eagle's First Set-Up

Don't know. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to which of the original Simpson brush had the name on the front or back (or nowhere). The Vulfix brushes seem to have the name on the back, even if it wasn't there on the original brush (i.e., the Tulip you have pictured).

The Fifty series is also blank on the back, IIRC.

No pics sorry

I went with Tabac for The Eagle's 1st flight.

It gathered up the soap with ease from the puck.
IMHO it works well as a face lathering brush. A few drops of water into the breech and I has a mountain of creamy Tabac lather. It is my 1st expereince with a Simpsons brush, but it seems to have pretty soft tips and a decent backbone for a Best Badger brush.
I can tell you that I had to push it against my face harder than my Rooney 3/1 Super to get it to splay-out, but at no time did it feel harsh or scratchy. It gave up the lather well and there was plenty of it. It didn't lose any hairs.
I shampooed it before it's 1st flight, and some funky grey/brown slime came out when I squeezed the foam out of the bristles. Although it didn't have any "badger funk" smell, I'd definitely recommend a good wash and rinse prior to actual use.

I can't wait until it's broken in a little more, but the 1st time was very pleasing.

Tabac soap
Simpsons B&B Eagle 3 Best

Feather (2)
Razo-Rock
Thayers WH astringent w/aloe
Tabac AS Splash

Good to go!

"Got Shoes?"
The combination of 23 mm knot with 46-47 mm loft makes this a soap killer (Yes, Bob, it's better than the 57 :a47:) The handle is exceedingly comfortable. In short, it's awesome.

Should I reassess the "2017" thread?

@ Ron - that was a helluva first run.
Glad you got in on this one. :thumbup1:

Bob, I'm surprised you didn't go with the Trumper Wild Fern. :whistling:

I know, I know... Unforgiveable.

2013 now, for sure.

Yeah, I was reaching for that awesome Green bowl in the cabinet and picked up the AoS by mistake. :thumbdown I'll pull out the bowl of Penhaligon's English Fern tonight to give it a sniff and think wistfully about the days when shavedom was spinning properly on its axis.

Well gents here it is. My setup today was the Eagle (duh), some MWF (a new soap for a new brush), a '64 adjustable. Followed by a splash of withchazel and then a quick rub down of SCS Med. Citrus splash.:thumbup:

Lather hog..... great backbone and lushious ....:blushing::blushing:... All you others.... time for a well deserved rest. My "precious" is here in town....
