Tell me about this tech

Bakelite handle Zamack top stamped steel base plate doesn't look like it was plated no date code . Bottom of handle marked Gillette(trade mark logo) and made in U.S.A. bottom of base plate marked reg U.S. --- Pat. Off.
Gillette (trade mark logo) MADE IN USA
I have had it 12-15 years. I bought it at a yard sale for 25 cents

Yes except the top cap on mine is Zamak with a black piant/coating and I can see no sign of the base plate having been plated

Edit after looking at the picture the bottom of the handle is a little different too

Can you post pictures of the individual razor parts? It could be pretty war baseplate work triangular lather slots. Don't know if these are all original matching parts.

That sounds like it might be from the Korean War era. They went with some alternative materials during that time. It is also possible the parts were originally from different razors.

As I said this is a yard sale find . I have been cleaning up my extra razors . Every time I count them I seem to find another razor I am up to 14 razors. I have 4 in use

The baseplate with triangular slots was made during the early period aka pre-war (1938-45). The Techs were all brass back then. They did not have any date code on them.

That is it . thanks I may some day repaint the cap in flat black . Like I said I have a Quarter in it .
I like Techs I have one in my shaving rotation. I am two travel size including one in a kit that has a small mirror with it.

That does look like a pretty close match. Evidently Gillette only made razors for the military for a few years after the U.S. entered WWII, using the materials that were most available.
