Some controversial views, followed by a lot of nonsense

1) Blade chatter is real. Anybody who does not believe in blade chatter has very thin whiskers, or they only used superb razors.

2) Noises while shaving doesn’t always equal blade chatter.

3) Blade support from underneath is really important. This point may be person specific, as some thin whiskered people with specific shaving techniques can get away without a proper blade base support. Steep angle shaving is more forgiving when there is a lack of base support.

4) Despite gem having thicker blades, the blade rigidity on the 1912 models is horrendous because of the lack of base support.

5) People who say they prefer a chattering blade because of the blade conforming to the surfaces and not cutting through their pimples are way off the mark. If one has lots of pimples that they don’t want to slice, they should use a razor that has a small blade exposure and shave at a steep angle. Shallow angles, although better, can cut through pimples.

6) Shallow angle shaving has the most potential of giving the easiest smoothest close irritation free shave. A steep angle will shave closer but irritate the skin more. Many modern razor designs are flawed, forcing users to shave at a steep angle.

7) The Chinese precision manufactured razors are some of the worst precision razors produced today. It would appear that Yaqi has not done an ounce of research on their own and is relying on false data from other people. Yaqi razors are usually more irritating than their supposed clones. (one can easily see this by watching you tubers doing side-by-side comparisons. The Yaqi razors almost always cause the skin to turn more red.) The reason Yaqi razors seemed to irritate people more is due to slightly more blade exposure, but also Yaqi love to force a steep angle. A 30° angle may be an optimal neutral angle, but Yaqi seems to think that the shallowest open angle should start somewhere in the 30s.

8) Avoid plastic and Zamak razors. Get brass, stainless or titanium instead. If one loves an aluminum razor, they can get the aluminum razor as well. For those on a budget, spending more than $10 on a Zamak razor is absurd when there are great vintage brass razors in that price range.

Now for extra controversial ones

1) People overrate PTFE-coated blades. A well stropped blade is more important than the PTFE coating. The PTFE coating can cause the first few shaves to be rough and some get an allergic reaction to the PTFE coating.

2) The only way to have a truly sharp blade every shave is to either find a superb blade and throw that blade out after one or two shaves, or have a stropping device and maybe a sharpening device to sharpen the blade. Many choose the first route and throw the blade out after one or two shaves. Yet being able to have a well-stropped blade before the first shave is very beneficial, even more so than a PTFE coating, or because of the PTFE coating. So go buy a stropper like the Twinplex stropper.

For the grand finale, the most controversial one of all is not up for discussion. As this one is controversial enough to get one classified as insane.

1) The sun in our solar system is a cold dark place. The energies from the sun only turn into light and heat after entering the earth’s atmosphere. It would seem that the sun’s rays turn into light earlier in the atmospheric range than the heat. The heat only appears when the atmosphere gets thicker, causing vibrations and friction.

I think I can think of a few more, but I had enough fun for now.

You know, having read most of your explorations here, I really think you need a straight razor. Probably something with a heavier grind, quarter hollow or so. Excellent blade rigidity, you can shave as shallow as you want, and it's actually designed to be stropped and honed. A Henckels Friodur 11-V or 72-V would have the added benefit of being stainless, while still easily honing to a keen and comfortable edge (unlike some stainless steels). Unfortunately the V models are not as ubiquitous as their full hollow models, but if blade rigidity what you're after I'd avoid those. If you can live with carbon steel, Rigarazor is one of the best values in currently produced razors in my opinion, and all of theirs are quarter hollow. They sell via ebay exclusively nowadays.
