Thinking about getting a 22mm Shavemac D01 SilverTip 2 Band. Face lather only. Is this a good idea?

I like them for that. I would probably go with a fan. Their bulbs are quite round and don't splay much in 22mm.
Super scrubby and dense from what I remember.
As above, make sure to get a fan or flat top. Even the fan was too much face feel for me.
There is nothing else out there like a D01 2 band. They are very hard to describe to people as they are so unique.

If you're getting a 22mm knot, I would get the loft set at 46 mm or so. Less than 46mm would leave it with too much backbone for my taste, but as with all things, YMMV!
I have two 24/50mm and two 26/54mm. These are absolutely fabulous brushes.
+1 on getting a Fan 22 or 24mm isn‘t so much of an issue as it stays very compact.
D01 two band is probably the best brush set up I have.
