Revolutionary War Shaving. A Very Useful Video For Potential SR Newcomers

Could be most likely nutjob stuff
I follow Will and his excellent ACW channel. Taught us a lot, especially 19th Century fieldcraft and firemaking, applicable to camping. Here he collaborates with an AWI re-enactors channel. An 18th century British army shave in the field.

Watching it, I found it very new SR shaver-friendly. It's a one pass WTG removal of a representative mid 19th century small beard using authentic hard and software.

The most persuasive piece of work I have seen encouraging one to take up the art.

The Gent seems very competent and articulate on SR shaving and period. I like his clear explanations, the use of short strokes, and the period after shave.

Trying to tiptoe into this area, I find an historical analogy comforting, as I'm a history and military history fan.

Any comments and thoughts on the video?

That blade didn't look anywhere near sharp enough.

And maybe he hasn't shaved someone else before.
I recall reading when George Washington arrived to take command of the militia forces encircling the British in Boston he developed a low opinion of the Massachusetts militia.

At one point he was appalled to see a militia Captain shaving a lower ranking militiaman. It was just a bit too "egalitarian" for the General.

This gentleman has another video on 18th century shaving as well. Very interesting stuff. I remember coming across this video a few years back. Really cool to see him in another video.

Yes, I have seen that. I hesitated to post it. In hindsight it may have been the better video to post for a somewhat deeper exploration.
