Pasko.... it has started......

I smell like a Christmas pudding
After resisting all through September, I can no longer contain my wife's excitement...... she has started with the 2024 Christmas decorations at our home, already a Nativity scene has appeared in our hallway and the sounds of Jose Mari Chan can be heard throughout the house. It will be a gradual thing, she thinks I will not notice, and I will pretend I do not, a bauble here, a twinkling light there, and before you know it we will have dancing snowmen on the driveway, festive bed linen, and an illuminated musical toilet seat cover to complete the effect of Santa's Grotto Of Tasteless Vulgarity. Due to my steadfast resistance, this year I have only two months of this to 'endure' instead of the usual three, but it makes her happy which makes me happy 🤣

Am I alone or does anyone else have their house transformed at this time of year? Does anyone start earlier?

We have an agreement, we don't put up decorations for any major holiday that has another major holiday before it, so no Thanksgiving before Halloween, no Christmas before Thanksgiving, etc.
Makes things easier.

Maligayang Pasko at Manigong Bagong Taon!
Or as I like to tease my wife: Maligayang Pasko at Manigong Bagoong Taon!

Was in Walley World the other day, looking down were the garden department is, all I saw was Christmas Stuff for sale. Little early, as we have not even had Halloween.

This is our rule, and in our house everyone is on board.

If I'm being honest, I get irritated seeing Christmas decorations for sale in stores before Halloween.

To each their own but I have always enjoyed Christmas season decorations and so forth more when they are limited to a finite period and don't "take over" other holidays. I like Thanksgiving on its own, and Halloween on its own.

Growing up we always waited until after Thanksgiving to put any Christmas decorations up. My mother was slightly superstitious and felt it was bad luck to leave any Christmas decorations up after the New Year. Typically we were taking down all decorations on New Year’s Eve. After getting married we put our decorations up after Thanksgiving and take them down a couple weeks into the New Year. One year my wife was having some health issues and she wanted to leave them up until the last week in January. I didn’t mind, but we noticed they were getting dusty. It felt a little strange to have to dust everything off before we put it away.
