Opinion on Mama Bear Soaps

I'm one of the lucky one's.No reaction and I've used both the sticks and pucks and face lather. My favorites so far, Awakenings,Rosemary Mint,Lime Ice and Ye Olde Barbershoppe.I'll have to try the Aged Spice.

Mama Bear soaps that ive tried have all delivered a great shave. Oddly enough the one scent I didnt care for was the Aged Spice. I gave it to my son who loves it. I have Christmas Forest and Toasted Coconut on hand and like them both with the Coconut being my favorite scent.

for me the scents were way too strong and lit my face up. I have no desire to try any more.

i know you can air them out, but what's the point in that, as there are so many others to choose that will work for me.

They are nice soaps with good enough performance when I am at home in Halifax with soft water. But, at times like now, when I am travelling to places with hard water, I find that MB soaps don't perform well enough. The lather just doesn't have lasting power in these circumstances. That being said, I think they are well worth trying and certainly not out of place next to more expensive soaps.

Mama Bear soaps are the only ones that light my face on fire. Too bad, some of the scents are fascinating, if a bit strong. I have moved on to higher end soaps anyway.

Touché!

Actually, it's only my skin that's sensitive. I've got an iron stomach and my veins pulse with pure Louisiana Hot Sauce. :thumbup1:

Soft shell, hard core.

On topic: I find that many of the artisan makers tend to overdo it with fragrance. Some of them seem to think the fancier the scent the more attractive the product. (same with fancy colour mixes, which tends to put my off). Mike's Natural Soaps is an exception.

I have not tried Mama Bear's and am commenting in general.

Sets my skin on fire

Sadly I'm one of the few that has a bad reaction to the MB soaps.

Actually, many people [including myself] have strong reactions to MB soaps. They are just too heavy on the EO/FO.
Also, they are very expensive for a glycerin based soap. One could get excellent triple milled soaps for the same price.

Mama bear soaps are absolutely my favorite soaps that I've tried so far. I like the strong scents, it lathers great, and is very hydrating/lubricating. I should say that I do not have sensitive skin, so they've never bothered me.

I am going through my Mama Bear samples and haven't had a bad reaction yet. So far so good. I am not crazy about all of the scents, but some are ok. Some smell too sweet and girly for my taste. Ye Ol' Barberhop had an unpleasant butterscotch smell that I found not to my liking. I haven't had any problems building lather though.

I've been scared to order it for just that reason. She does sell sample sizes though so that would take some of the disappointment out of it if I were to be unable to use them.

If you want to try it out, PM me your address and I will drop a small puck in the mail for ya, used one time. Northwoods or Ye Olde Barbershop, your choice.

Ok so I went on bike ride this morning and arrived home noticing the mailman arrived. Amongst the mail was a package from Mama Bears. I should have ordered the 5oz puck, but I got the 1.5oz mug soap size. I grated it and put it in a mug which would compliment an Aged Spice soap, an Old Spice mug. The soap lathers very well (face lather) and it didn't need much water. Now I see what some of you guys are saying about the burning sensation. However, the sensation never got to the point of where I couldn't stand it. It was a very nice buildup of heat over three passes. Then I followed up with witch hazel followed by, you guessed it, Shulton Old Spice. Combining that aftershave with the effect of the soap, all I can say is WOW! There was some Jamaican heat going on, mon! I liked it. BBS shave because the soap was plenty slick. Also, my face did not redden.

Good stuff in my experience.
A high quality glycerin soap.

Never had any problems with it, and there are quite a few in my den.
Also like the variety, nice to try a few scents.

I kind of under the radar join the sabbatical, but have those new mug size pucks on the radar!

I have waited so long for this soap. Long ago I wanted to order her, but the high forwarding expenses to Germany has held me back.
For a few weeks one can buy them also in Germany and I have immediately ordered aDublin tweed and was enthusiastically from the smell.
But immediately with the first shave my skin has burnt like fire.
There I waited so long for this soap and then I do not stand her.

I have experienced the burning/tingling skin thing from her soap and I don't consider myself to have sensitive skin. So I tossed her soap in my drawer and didn't plan to use it again. But just like drinking gives me a hangover I keep going back!!! I decided to pull out the ole' Mama Bear again the other day and had no problem.

Before that it happened every time even with different blades and it lasted for hours. This time nothing. I had to use it. I was longing for that smell of Sandlewood and Vanilla.
