TODAY'S SHAVE WITH THE MILD PLATE AND A NACET BLADE

I was going to post a review yesterday, but I used too many new variables and the shave just wasn't that good. The biggest variable was using a Tatara blade. I am sure it is a good blade for many, just not for me.
Today I used the M3teorite with the mild plate and a Nacet blade. Going in, I figured it would be an ok shave, just not very efficient. All I can say is that I keep underestimating this razor. Unlike the Medium and Aggressive plates, the Mild had nearly no blade feel. The clue that it was shaving was the audible feedback, which was very noticeable. The razor glided over the skin mowing down the stubble. All that said, the mild is a bit less efficient than the Medium, not a lot though. I found that I had to do a bit more touchup buffing than with the other plates. Yet, this plate gave me a BBS shave.
Oliworks has produced a wonderful razor. It is smooth, comfortable and efficient throughout all plates. Each plate has a variance of efficiency, which is to be expected. I had no trouble finding the right angle with each plate. The plates have a wide allowance for angle and should accommodate anyone's technique.
I have, very much, enjoyed this razor. My preference is the Aggressive plate, but as the motto says YMMV.
Well Done Oliworks.

An excellent shave.

That's the end of my seven-shave trial with the medium M3teorite. It's an excellent razor but not as good as my grail OliBlade. I'm hoping my M3teorite aggressive baseplate will turn up soon — I'll do a seven-shave trial with that one too.

* Tonight was my first experience of (@roaduck) Johnny's Bay Rum after shave splash (which he kindly PIFd to me). It's excellent, has a great scent along with superb post-shave face feel. Cheers Johnny, you're the man! :001_cool:

I guess I will shoot off two questions as the Razor is 4.03 Ounces, and only 3.6" Lone how is the Balance as this is a Heavy Razor?

Also I I can only see the KNURLING in Photos, and the Razor is similar to a certain REX Model I have seen, that I found knurling very abrasive, maybe overkill. How do you find the knurling on OliWorks Meteorite??

ASL: The Dragon's Bay Rum*

A really nice shave.

My aggressive baseplate (aka tray) arrived today, just in time to start a new seven-shave trial. I must say I was impressed (like I am with all OliWorks products). On tonight's first shave, it beat the "medium" baseplate easily (of course that's a personal taste thing and YMMV).

* Tonight I used (@roaduck) Johnny's better half's version of their Bay Rum after shave. It was very nice. I'll go back to Johnny's version next shave as I've changed the bottles, so I want to compare it better with the Dragon's.
The reason I changed the bottles was due to the spray/squirt mechanism on Johnny's that I used last night. The first three sprays were fine, but all additional ones didn't actually spray. When pressed the liquid just ran down the side of the bottle (no spray, messy and annoying). My dropper bottles give me the exact amount of liquid that I want... onward! :001_smile

A SURPRISE FOR ME!

When my order for the aggressive baseplate (aka tray) turned up, there were TWO baseplates in the package:

Assuming this was an error I emailed Jorge asking what I should do.

Jorge replied: "On purpose! Just a gift from us, and I wanted you to have the full set!"

I've had many excellent "customer service" experiences, but this just takes it to another level!

Maybe I should have ordered less knowing this. I wound up buying The Dark Cherry full razor with 3 plates, and the SS full razor with 3 plates and even bought a blue cerakote aggressive plate.

:001_unsur But didn't you get baseplate (tray) reductions when you ordered the full sets (i.e. razors complete with all three baseplates)?

(Also, bear in mind that I have to pay for shipping on all my orders because I'm on the other side of the pond.)

No, I ordered the Red Cerakote aggressive, then added the mild and medium plate. I ordered the regular SS with aggressive plate and orderd the mild and medium plate. Didn't see an option to buy all 3 with the razor for a discount.

It did apply the Black Friday discount code for 25% off. Was there supposed to be an additional discount if you buy the complete set of plates? I just looked now, and I don't see an option of buying the razor with all three plates other than adding them separately (ala cart) which is what I did when I placed my order at like 5am this morning.

There was a discount when the razor was first offered, if you bought all three plates at that time. That deal is expired though - it ran a short time. Basically, the money worked out so that it was buy two plates, the third one was free.

DAY BEFORE TURKEY DAY SHAVE-VERY DECEPTIVE

I decided to use the M3teorite razor with the Aggressive plate and the most aggressive blade I have, the Accurthrive. The shave was a 3 pass shave. All the passes were very smooth and comfortable, so I didn't think anything about applying a little more pressure and a little extra buffing. I'm an idiot. The result was still a great shave with this razor, but it is so deceptively efficient with that plate that I didn't realize how close I was getting. BBS shave but with an unusual amount of alum and a/s burn.
Moral of the story is: if you are going to use the M3teorite aggressive plate, just go light on the touch and don't overdo it.

PRE: PRORASO PRE SHAVE GREEN (MEH, I PREFER BLUE).
BOWL: HC&C STAINLESS
BLADE: ACCUTEC ACCUTHRIVE
RAZOR: M3TEORITE - AGGRESSIVE PLATE. (THIS RAZOR IS A MUST-HAVE)
SOAP: ETHOS VETIVERT (WONDERFUL SOAP)
POST: HOT/COLD RINSE, LATHER WASH, ALUM, WITCH HAZEL
A/S: ETHOS VETIVERT

SCORE: 9/10. BBS (THE ONLY REASON FOR IT NOT BEING A 10/10 WAS ME)
