NEW DE Wet Shaver Question

I want to buy my brother a razor for Xmas and get him away from cartridges. I know this question has been asked 1000 times, but would you name one or two Entry Level razors that aren't high end or expensive, please. Thanks in advance!

Rockwell 6C. $54 right now. Gives you all 6 settings (3 plates).… if you want to go cheaper, the Rockwell 2c comes with a single plate (the 1-3 setting).

you can even save an additional 10% off the current sales prices by using a valid discount code… like one of the several YouTubers that have them. For example, Ohio Shaves channel.

Here are some great options:

  • Muhle R89 ~$30 on shaving.ie (made of zinc alloy)
  • Merkur 42c ~ $26 on castlerockshaving.com (made of zinc alloy)

Some even better options (but a bit more expensive):

  • Razorock GameChanger 68P ~$55 on italianbarber.com (fully CNC machine 316L stainless steel: will last several lifetimes)
  • Rockwell 6c ~ $44.99 at therazorcompany.com (still zinc alloy but offers 6 different efficiency / aggression settings to choose from so you can be sure whoever you are buying it for will find one that works for them)
  • Merkur Progress ~ $57 (with the 12% sale) at therazorcompany.com (still zinc alloy but fully adjustable, so again the person you are buying it for can adjust the efficiency / aggression on the fly during the shave)

Thank you for being so inclusive!

I'll put in an endorsement for the Pearl Flexi. Specifically, the solid safety bar version.

Mine's the open comb, shown there in a gratuitous attempt to sway your opinion by showing a bit of leg. But I recommend the solid bar.

Adjustable is just better. And don't overlook the "gadget" factor. Clever devices have a appeal and will be just a bit more likely to get him into the act. The Pearl Flexi comes with that stand and 50 Willy's blades.

Just depends on what you consider high end or expensive.

Merkur 34C HD with a pack of Astra SP blades and Porasso shave cream (I prefer the blue tube, but the green and white are nice too)...all of that will offer a very mild, smooth, clean shave.

Qshave that way your bro can learn what comfort level and blade feel.
It will give you guys something to talk about and when the time comes you can guide him on a nice non adjustable, but I know guys that are satisfied using the Q, a good blade and a can of shave cream.

I also regard Razorock Gamechanger as the benchmark for quality and price.

As for Henson, there may be an opportunity to cater to his original habit of using ink cartridges, which is also a good entry angle.

Or, if you can find a vintage Gillette that was born in the same year as his, or that once appeared in his favorite movie, it will also be very precious to him and highlight your intentions.
