I am going to Elizabeth's Barber Shop in St Paul, Minnesota today. My barber will be Patrick Imholte who HarryCut Harry has frequented. The YouTube video of Patrick shaving Harry is amazing.
I know it's supposed to be an occasional indulgence, but I'm not sure I could sit still that long ...still probably something I need to experience at least once.
My primary curiosity is the resulting shave and how it compares to my own using the same, or similar, tools.
It appeared to be a 2-pass shave using a folding Feather SS and a ProGuard blade, with no noticeable ATG pass except for the lower neck. I normally include an ATG pass on my neck, cheeks, and the sides of my chin, which results in some of my closest shaves.
The barber also shaved across the grain on the tip of his chin, which seems customary, and one of my "trouble" spots when using a Feather (or any) shavette
Please let us know your thoughts after your experience...I'd love to hear the details.
It is nothing but indulgence..... lol. I get the same result at home for sure. I have had hot towel shaves in Rome, two in London, being Truefitt and Hill plus Thrumper's, plus one in Instanbul. Patrick's was the best right here in the USA.
